Game 20: Kings (9-10) @ Blazers (7-12) [IST Game 3]
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday, Kings are back in some IST group action against a Blazers team that blew us out in preseason. Hopefully we can take care of business and get back to .500.

Re: Game 20: Kings (9-10) @ Blazers (7-12) [IST Game 3]
Looks like a gap year where we barely our able to keep our pick in a good draft..
need Carter to pan out.. need better depth.. make a go of it next year when, maybe, but probably not, the west isnt so tough... I dont want to be trading firsts for this core now though
I don't know what you do with Murray.. obviously he'd be gone if he had any value for me.. but I guess thats probably not the case now. I don't know if he has the mental capacity to be a solid two way role player (impact player is out the door), but maybe he shows me something throughout the season.
Its on the players though, Brown isnt going anywhere. Solid coach with a contract just starting out. And the users who have brought him up, don't seem to want to take a proper account of the teams individual players.. its like taking it out on the coach in the name of positivity to the players

20 games in and 25% done of the season.
This team does not look good at all.

He should be stinking it up in Utah but Monte is an idiot also could’ve had Naji Marshall or Derrick jones as well if you traded Keegan. Even if you didn’t trade Keagan those two were needed but no we got the 6’3 midget that won’t impact anything cause wings will destroy him

He'll impact things because we don't have another starting SG on the roster if Monk is remaining on the bench. He will be a breath of fresh air from the Ellis/Huerter show. If he hits somewhere near his ceiling, and you add an energetic, solid looking young guard next to Fox in the backcourt, things could be up

Keegan has been bad and Huerter/Lyles have both been really bad but Keon has been really good, not sure what issue you have with him is. Every metric has him as a plus player, the lineups with him all have great net ratings and he's shooting 44% from three. He's the perfect fit in the starting lineup. That's part of the issue with Mike is that he continues to play Huerter over Keon when all of the data is showing Keon has a much bigger impact. He's stubborn with his rotations and continues to play his guys rather than develop our young players. Took way too long for Keon to be a regular part of the rotation and Isaac Jones is playing really well in his minutes but I fully expect him to get DNPs again once Lyles is healthy. In game reps are the best way to develop these guys but he just doesn't give them enough opportunities in favor of guys like Huerter, Lyles and Barnes when he was here. Then you have the defensive scheme issues, we give up the most corner threes in the league which is the most efficient shot in the game. Mike Brown is a floor raiser but in my opinion he's clearly not the guy to get the most out of your team and take them to the next level.

My problem with Keon starting? Playing offense other than making open assisted threes. The role of an off guard, especially playing alongside a non traditional PG is to have solid floor game and offensive BBIQ too. Keon is easy to root for because he actually plays balls out unlike a lot of players on the team, just not sure he’s starting on too many other teams about now. To summarize Napear on his post game, it’s like playing 5 on 3 offensively right now
I think everyone hates the barrage of theee point shooting by the opponents, it’s just interesting that your thoughts first go to the top ten paid coach rather than the possible defensively inconsistent players

Keon does have good BBIQ though, he makes few mistakes and can keep the ball moving well. He's not necessarily a shot creator but you don't need that from him when you have Fox, Derozan and Sabonis starting with him. Again, look at lineup data with Keon in those units, the team performs so much better with him on the floor. He hits his shots, doesn't turn the ball over and puts another active defender on the floor. That's exactly what you want.
Also, the three point barrage is in part because of the defensive schemes we are running. That's either Brown or whoever he has running the defense, sounds like Luke Loucks from what they say on the broadcast but it's something that needs to be addressed. The reason we give up so many of those open corner threes is because we continuously blitz every ball screen for whatever reason. I think it's in part because we have no rim protection and we want to keep pressure off the rim but that causes guys to be out of position on rotations and leave a man open in the corner. That's something that needs to be addressed in scheme which is coaching.
You can point the finger at the players all you want and say people here should put the blame on them (and of course they are partly part of the problem) but you need to be honest about the flaws and limitations of our coaching as well. That goes for the front office too, we get killed by teams with length and athleticism but continue to draft and sign undersized guards and refuse to fix our weaknesses. All of these things are compounding right now into the mess we're seeing.

Even when we don’t blitz we over help every weak side defender has two feet in the paint and there guys are getting clean looks. We have zero chance at even the play in with this bull **** no matter what trade or if our offense is top five. To pin this on Keon is wild when the whole team is doing it
