Game 53: Kings (26-26) @ Mavericks (28-25)

Post#1 » by codydaze » Tue Feb 11, 2025 1:14 am

We get our first look at a post-Luka Mavs squad that will also be without the newly acquired Anthony Davis. PJ Washington and Lively are among other names that will be out for Dallas so we will be facing a shorthanded team that we need to take advantage of. We got the first win out of the way with this new look Kings squad so let's keep it rolling.

Not a pretty first. Some good drives by LaVine early, but that's about end of it. Can someone explain what the hell happened to Monk? Is he just overthinking his new role? It feels like every since the trade the dude got monstared

Man I hope we get a pg this summer lol. Mavs are a good team, but it shouldn't be this close missing all those front court players.

You don't see Monk this upset. If he is complaining about fouls he typically goes to the ref and plays it both ways, but boy is he red right now.

Terrible whistle but we have 16 turnovers to their 6. They are getting out in fast break pushing the pace and getting calls.

This team is so difficult to watch. Everything feels so hard for them.

Lack of 3 point shooting really is a killer for us and the defense in our starting line up is laughably bad. Just a classic Vivek and Monte roster construction.

The 2 bigs were clunky, but get some 3pt shooting with them like that DDR 3 and it can work.

Why Keon isn't on the floor is beyond me. You have a special closer...on the defensive end. Use him.

Christie's has done more than brown, but I'm starting to think he isn't the answer either. The fact these coaches can't realize keon should start/finish every game is laughable.

He will come good. An actual PG would help, but Zach would be a really good 3rd option.

I mean let's be honest here. Keon is a game changer on D. BUT. The #1 thing is he isn't a dud on the offensive end. He will (and has) knocked 3s down in important points and his O game is expanding. Let the kid play.

I feel like part of it has to be pressure from up top, whether that's the FO or ownership. Maybe they're concerned about the optics of having your two big acquisitions and the guy you just committed to being your starting PG on the bench to end the game. I hope for Doug's sake that's what it is because there's no way Keon should not be on the floor closing these games.

You get Monk, Keon, DDR, Keegan, Sabonis. It should (right now at least) be a toss up between DDR and Lavine who finishes. DDR has been better.
Unless you think Lavine should be in instead of Monk?
