The offseason is officially here with the first round of the NBA Draft (which we are currently not a part of) kicking off tomorrow. Let's discuss all things offseason here.

I, for one, am fully prepared to be massively underwhelmed this summer.

Im bracing for
Schroder
Monk + carter for Barrett
Losing laravia
Resigning lyles
Schroder/keon
Lavine/barrett
Derozan
Keegan/lyles
Sabonis/jval
Because if I had to pick a worst case scenario this would be it.

Yikes... Schroder has been terrible for a bit, just shows you where things are at in terms of pgs in our grasp. but Schroder has been so terrible, I'm not sure he does anything over playing an ill fitting player at pg

There are still rumors that we are trying to get in the latter half of this lottery despite my initial doubts (most are busts), but using Monk or Carter and not those Spurs/Wolves picks at least (smartly, you dont trade picks that can potentially become prime and you dont just assume the Spurs/wolves will be good)..
Rumors have been that the team hasn't liked Carter's diet/attitude behind the scenes? I was and am high on the kid myself but..

I was thinking the pg desperation was leading to this pick stuff, but there doesn't appear to be too many pgs mocked in the mid to late first round (without studying the prospects)

Dave mentioned kings brass preaching patience on twitter last night. I'm getting PTSD from Monte. At least Vlade had the balls to do what he had to do.
All in, or all out. WE either trade Sabonis, or trade for Lamelo. There should be no half ass Schroder + Run it back type stuff.

DeRozan doesn't need to be traded, if his salary isnt needed, just needs to accept bench role. Not surprised with his rep he's not fetching offers commensurate with his talent
I dont like dealing Devin for some random later first round guard, still

I don't see a world where we can go into next season without moving Derozan and/or Monk. The 2 guard rotation is set with Lavine/Keon, go get some help at the 4 and find a point guard.

Monk for PJ?
Demar for Wiggins?
Schroder in FA
Keon/Schroder
LaVine/Carter
Keegan/Nique
PJ/Wiggins
Sabonis/JVal

Kings have been linked to rumors now of assessing Lavine value...
Perry serious about the d culture, and maybe the trade was more than Vivek.

What PHX is doing is the aggressiveness I want from Sac.
How many trades did they just make in the span of a week?
Durant
Mark Williams
Trade up to 41
Trade up to 36
Re-flip 36 for 31
I want to see Perry get aggressive dumping some of these iso guards. He wants to build a defensive identity, lets start clearing out guys we know don't belong.

Phoenix has been doing this out of desperation and an owners foolish mandate to “do something”.
If they end up lucky, they will be better off than last year but without any firepower outside of Booker.

They added a ton of high upside under 24 guys. I dont see desperation.

But that isn’t going to move the needle in the West insofar as winning/playoffs. They backed themselves into a situation that doesn’t allow them to be truly competitive for a while.
We have routes out of that treadmill. And I feel that Perry can and will find and utilize them.
In other news, Chris Paul wants to play one more season and on the West Coast. And the Kings were mentioned as one of the possible teams. I’d be good with this as a transition move unless we trade for a PG.

If we are being honest with ourselves we need to follow suit with what phx did. Only difference is we own our picks, but they actually have a star who took them to the finals. We have a few solid role players, an underwhelming star, and a bunch of offense only overpaid guys.
Id bet an LA team for cp3 but let's see. Dont mind him, but not excited about any of these pg FA options.

Hasn't been mentioned here yet, but the Keon move is just the latest clueless decision by this organization. I really hope he decides to sign an extension before we get to the season, because if he gets to next offseason hes 100% leaving for a better team. And honestly, I wouldnt blame him at all.

If we are talking about “being honest with ourselves” then we need to all just acknowledge and accept that the one thing that will NEVER HAPPEN as long as Vivek is the owner is the full tear down/rebuild that everyone THINKS they want.
As far as the decision on Keon, it makes complete sense to me. One more year of incredibly cheap cost control to keep your finances flexible now. Know that it is highly likely that a large amount of money is freed up next season both by moves this year and straight out dumping (ie letting Levine walk instead of doing a new deal when he hopefully opts out to find a new long term deal). That will be the time to pay Keon and have it be a reasonable amount.

I was more concerned with Jake than Keon, who needs serious offensive refinement. No more 1/2s with little floor game. I appreciate shooting, but he needs to be more than strictly on ball defense
I can see why Perry wants flexibility to bring his own guys in
