Keegan Murray Extends
I figured this probably deserves its own thread. I believe this is the first rookie scale extension since De'Aaron Fox.
Personally a big fan of the deal, $28 million AAV is roughly 18% of the cap and I think that is more than fair for a very solid 3&D player at the most premium position in the league, especially with the versatility he has on defense. Now if we can just clear out this roster for him to expand his offensive game with more opportunity and touches, him developing into that 2 Way stud (I believe he still has it in him, obviously a big time Keegan truther) then the deal looks even better.

Re: Keegan Murray Extends
That's ok, I guess. He's a starter level 2-way 6'9 forward who can defend multiple positions, and the salary can be justified if he just returns to his rookie year 3PT%.
The thing is we should move him to SF as soon as possible - that would increase his offensive effectiveness & efficiency at the same time. With the current roster planning though, he is destined to have another uninspiring season. I wish Perry could prove me wrong by getting rid of DeRozan and trading for a real PF.

Re: Keegan Murray Extends
I’ll try to put my faith in the GM on this. I’m open to those in charge knowing more than I do.
Keegan has a fair bit to show on O for me. Not only has he not proactively shown expansive/strong O, his game has actually been underwater - as in missing an inordinate amount of open looks generated for him in our offense without efficiency the last few years along with little creation.
The contract shows the premium of wings though (I personally don’t overvalue them). And probably defense (which I don’t again, defensive facsimiles are found in the g league). But Perry and his staff are there for a reason and not me, so I’ll go with it
I think the non biased view of this is the reaction on the t/t board, which is its generous at this stage and we didn’t get much of an early bird kick back. We’ll see how it ages
