I was looking around here and checking out a more in depth look at the team's strengths and weaknesses this year.
Many of the stats were predictable, but just so you don't have to look them all up yourself, we are currently 29th in turnovers, 29th in blocks, 29th in assists, and 29th in rebounding. We're also 28th in points in the paint (yay improvements!).
I decided to look at this by position to see where we struggle so much in these areas.
For turnovers at PG, we're 25th, at SG we're 24th, at SF we're 22nd, at PF, we're 12th, and at center we're 19th. I'd say what this mostly confirms is that the turnovers are, as many expected a team-wide problem. Frankly the fact that PF is at 12th is really ridiculous considering that Mikki's job offensively is to maybe take an open shot every now and then and finish (I'm guessing his bobbled passes and 3 second violations that he's always getting don't help).
For rebounds, we're 5th at PG, 8th at SG, 19th at SF, 27th at PF, and 22nd at center. So with an average placing of 10.7, it would seem that our wings are pretty much doing their jobs. I guess the fact of the matter here is that while Brad himself is 12th in rebounds for centers, he also plays more minutes than most centers. So really, his rebounds per minute aren't that strong, and it also doesn't help that Spencer isn't exactly known for his rebounding prowess.
Of course, the problem is worse at PF where it's usually either Mikki or Ron playing out of position. And for Mikki, getting less than 6 RPG in almost 30MPG is just awful unless you're playing next to a Dwight Howard.
Assists are a little bit trickier, because they are not always based on skill, but rather how you do things. As was so with turnovers, I expected PF to have a low number of assists (although you'd think being 27th in assists would mean being 3rd in turnovers, but I guess that's because Mikki kind of sucks). Over all, it's tough to really pinpoint the problem here. I think that in fairness to Beno, our PG spot (at least with regard to assist/to) is really hurt by Douby. But still, 29th is just bad, and when your PG is 29th, it won't be too surprising when your team is 29th.
I would say though that I'm a little surprised at how low we are at SG. I know it's really really not Kevin's role to look for guys for assists, but Salmons was considered the SG while Kevin was out IIRC, so I thought that would be higher.
Here's a quick overview of the numbers.
PG
TO - 25th
rebounds - 5th
assists - 29th
SG
TO - 24th
Rebounds - 8th
Assists - 25th
SF
TO - 22nd
Rebounds - 19th
Assists - 10th
PF
TO - 12th
Rebounds - 27th
Assists - 27th
C
TO - 19th
Rebounds - 22nd
Assists - 1st
Okay, now to one of the positives, we're 9th in FG%. At PG we're 10th, at SG we're 5th, at SF we're 11th, at PF we're 7th, and at Center we're....28th. But hey, at least we're good here as a team! We're also 8th in 3 point %, 6th in steals and 4th in FT%.
There are some other interesting things that I found there. For instance when we shoot 17 or more threes, we're 8-14. When we get 17 or more turnovers, we're 6-14 (which is nuts because that means that when we just stay on our average or less in turnovers, we are 12-9).
One of the most standout stats was that when we get 9 or more steals, we are 13-5!
Anyway, I just thought some of these stats were interesting and rather relevant to us.
Fun fact - in 03-04, our centers got double the amount of assists as the team that was second in that category.

Yeah I knew about the rebounding, shotblocks, points in paint stats.. could of just assumed too.
Actually just saw the 3P percentage stat today, which was nice to see.
Yeah... aside from Kenny in 05, and 05-06, our wings have been the rest of the best rebounders.
Defense and rebounding will have to start being significantly improved sooner and later. And it shouldn't just wait until later, start improving every chance there is that is fitting with the roster. Starting this summer. We'll always be a ceiling until so. Defense and rebounding are not a luxury, it's an absolute requirement to be legitimate in the NBA. Offense isn't a problem with most teams in the league, and it won't be with this team.

That just goes to show that if you make your shots and particularly freee throws, it can help cover a lot of warts. Honestly, if we just dropped the turnover rate down to middle of the pack even, I think we'd give ourselves a +.500 at this point in the season. That's how close these games have been that we've lost.

I think that's very fair to say, considering the stat I posted.

Wait, what does "defensive turnovers" mean? Is that turnovers that we forced?
And aren't those stats from last year?

Are these pace adjusted?
As long as we have Miller at C and a nobody at the 4, we're not gonna be regular team stat-wise.
Miller has respective stats, not attrocious rebounding, there are 8 worse than him, and 19th in TO despite being high usage player and most passing center.
