Would you guys as SAC fans do the following deal? I guess this would mostly depend on if you want to rebuild or not, but most SAC fans on the trade board seem to want to rebuild so here's the deal. Hate it or love it?

Sacto sets their backcourt for the future with Kevin Martin and Devin Harris. Along with a nice pick this year, Hawes etc, they will have a very bright future. Obviously this would signal the start of rebuilding and they would trade Miller and Bibby after this as well. In fact, I think they should do Bibby for Gooden and Newble right after this deal. They have to give up Garcia to dump Abdur-Rahim and get a 1st as well for him. They also get 3 short contracts which will make them FA players in the near future.

We get the tough guy we need in Artest who can post up and lock down opposing swing men, as well as bigger PGs such as Baron. We also get a nice young player in Garcia who I like for his versatility. The talent we would be left with would definitely be championship caliber. Of course, as we give up Harris we would only do this if Artest signed an extension before the trade, i.e. 5 years 40M so that we don't trade Harris for Artest to bolt to NYK. The squad we are left with has plenty of everything IMO and would beat Boston or SA in a 7 game series IMO. The cost of this talent upgrade is giving up Harris but also taking on 'Reef's waste of space contract. Sucks to give up Stack but doesn't work out capwise otherwise.

That's a very good deal for the Kings.

You'd have to take Garcia out of this deal for me...keep Ager and we'll keep Garcia and I'd call it good. If we deal Artest, Garcia is one of the players who's minutes will go up dramatically and fill that role well.

When they're legitimate deals then I'll approve, this isn't the first..but all you see in Kings trade from other fans is how to get Artest on the EXTREME cheap or how do you get Bibby on the extreme cheap. These are high quality all-star caliber players here. If we're dealing them then we're rebuilding, rebuilding means moving bad contracts(like Kenny), picks(even if they're late 20's like the mavs) and young prospects that fill our major needs(1 and 4).

You've hit 2 for 3 on this trade. If you included Kenny in the deal(who can play this year and rebound/defend - he really needs a change of scenery more than anything) then you've just completed the slam dunk trade. If you swapped Kenny for SAR I'd let you keep your first to boot.

The second change that has to be made is that the Kings must be taking back more expiring contracts than the value of Artest's. For us to trade Artest, who will opt out this summer, and take on more salary is absolutely pointless. This deal makes the Kings worse in salary, which means it is a bad deal.

WHAT? I've made man trade proposals involving Garcia, and the one including LBJ wasn't enough back in return! j/k

But really, I'm a fan of Garcia, but for the right price, I could easily see him going.

I would personally rather move Kenny than SAR, and would rather take out the 1st, Ager, and Cisco.

We can always move Mike for expirings if we need to clear more salary.

I'd do it, we get our PG of the future. Harris is hella talented and we get a 1st. I'm iffy on giving up Garcia but I think I'd do it.

Make the package that the Kings give up Artest/Kenny Thomas/Q. Douby and recompute.

Take out SAR and Garcia, put in K.Thomas, keep your 1st rounder and you got a deal. If you keep the pick in, we'll put in Douby.

I cant believe some of u would trade Douby for the Mavs 1st, which is gonna be in the 20s. Douby = Jason Terry w/ less PG skills but more D.

I think it still makes the deal fair if you do that.

Overall, like many posters have said is to add KT. Also, I think he would be a better fit for you since he can actually play. Finally, I would love to get Harris here. After watching him play here a couple of weeks ago, I was extremely impressed. He has a bright future and would make moving Bibby and drafting this up coming year much easier.

I agree,devin has a bright future and he brings in what we need in a piont guard which is distribute the ball,defend and push the tempo. It also makes us focus on draft day what we truly need which is a pf.

Not sure about the specific deal, but I would do Artest for Harris, with a package around him.

Dallas isn't doing it in reality, though.

Kidd/Howard/Dirk/Artest is a very nice core.

They dont have enough pieces to get both Kidd and Artest

If Dallas could somehow manage to get J.Kidd using Terry as the main piece then getting Artest for them would solidify their team.

Give them another summer, for signing some free agents and the team could be the 09 favorites. Given the fact that Cuben will spend whatever is necessary to win a ring.

But getting Harris, allows the King's to focus on getting a PF in the draft. Also forcing the Kings to trade Bibby before the deadline as well, which would give us possibily a 7-10 draft range. Good enough in finding a future PF.

I'd lean to Nets wanting Harris over Terry for Kidd. So that eliminates Artest just about completely for Dallas (unless there's some solid three-way deal), unless they gave up Josh Howard to us .

Terry doesn't fit with Carter and Jefferson in the short or long-term. It's talented, but not that compatible of a trio.

Then you have Terry's contract.

Then with Kidd gone, then you have the Nets increasing their rebuild for 2010 when they debut in Brooklyn.
