We should sticky this..from the Bee this morning

Reportedly, the Denver Nuggets want to trade bruising/borderline dirty role player Eduardo Najera and a first-round draft choice for Kings forward Ron Artest. Well, if you were the Nuggets, wouldn't you?

Yet, since that deal hasn't been done, we know Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie hasn't lost his mind.

Najera for Artest? Come now. Najera, who turns 32 in July, is a nice cat to come off any bench. He hustles and hustles and hustles, then he hustles some more. And he does have a contract that expires at the end of the season.

If I'm Petrie, and I've talked with him so often through the years there is a concept of the way he thinks, there is a need

I think we all know this already. It is all the other fans on realgm that can't get this through their head. They seem to think that us getting junk while helping our competitors is a good deal compared to Artest just walking. Petrie will not do any teams any favors. If we don't get something of value then we let Artest walk and let other teams deal with over paying or going into the lux tax. And when I say value I mean something more than a role player like Najera, or an expiring contract (because Artest is essentially expiring), or a late first. None of those are of any value to the Kings.

Thats not a bad trade IF there is ABSOLUTELY no other option. Team should get something for him.

Pretty well said ^, Piranha.

I wouldn't do the deal. And, last I heard on Najera/R1 pick, it wasn't wanted, and maybe couldn't be done.

I'd be OK with it, because we get something, but still, meh. Also don't like Ron too much for Denver. Helps them partially, but isn't a solid fit. I'd hope Ron leaves them in the summer.

I gotta disagree with #2...if we deal artest that signals rebuild, rebuild equals FUTURE assets...not other teams starters, especially from the contenders...the problem is these teams(well their fans at least) want their cake and eat it too. You gotta give to get, and if you want the present, then you must mortgage some future.

Most of these teams HAVE no future to mortgage out.
Suns, Boston, Spurs, now Mavs have absolutley nothing.
Lakers don't have anything anymore (Bynum won't be traded for
anything)

Our best bet, is either TPE and Atl 1st for Artest (asking anymore and Sun's won't want to do it)

Or, trading EVERYONE ELSE but keeping Artest. And rebuilding via Martin/Artest/Hawes, but meaning trade Bibby + Miller immediatley
