Who's the next one to go?

Post#1 » by rosevillekings916 » Sat Feb 16, 2008 10:56 pm

I was just watching Inside the NBA on TNT, David Aldridge was on there talking about a 3 way deal. Something like Brad going back to Indiana, Ron going to Denver, and J O comin to Sac. Not quite sure about the full details? Does anyone know if the players we just got can be traded? Maybe Geoff has a bigger deal in mind?

Now that would be unbelievably stupid. Then again if JO opts out that is a TON of money off the books and we'd be well under this summer. If he keeps his deal for it's tenure it makes NO SENSE. He doesn't expire until 2010.

As far as I know the players we just got can't be traded in a package, and no way are the Kings going to trade them for longer deals.

I was wondering the same thing! I do not know why we would want J.O unless the deal was goin on before he hurt his knee. I think there is a waiting time before a traded played can be re-traded.

I'm guessing Ron packaged with Kenny.

Unfortunately the boat may have passed on Ron being packaged with Kenny. Now it's time to get as much salary off the books as possible.

i posted this on trade board.. is this close?
------------------------------------------------------

New York Trade Breakdown
Incoming Players
Kenny Thomas
Ron Artest
Justin Williams
Outgoing Players
Eddy Curry
Malik Rose
Renaldo Balkman
Randolph Morris
Miami Trade Breakdown
Incoming Players
Eddy Curry
Outgoing Players
Jason Williams
Philly's 2009 2nd Round Pick
Indy's 2009 2nd Round pick
Sacramento Trade Breakdown
Incoming Players
Malik Rose
Renaldo Balkman
Randolph Morris
Jason Williams
Philly's 2009 2nd Round Pick via Miami
Indy's 2009 2nd Round pick via Miami
Outgoing Players
Kenny Thomas
Ron Artest
Justin Williams

Why for NYK..
Simple, get Ron Artest without trading Lee, even thought they trade balk and take on a not so great contract in KT. Also get Justin Williams who may see time at the 4/5 to compliment ZBO.

Why for Miami..
Curry fits perfect next to Haslem, only trading one expiring and 2 2nd rounders.

Why for Sac..
Artest if not traded will obviously sign somewhere else. Shave a year off KT's contract with Malik, get a young high energy athlete/good defender in balkman, a decent sized expiring in Jwill which pretty much cancels out with Artests contract unless they want to resign, a prospect big in Randolph Morris who pretty much isa ? at this point b/c Isiah wont give him a chance even though he impressed in summer league (which means nothing but he should still have had some chances by now..), and finally Phillys 09 pick which will be an early 2nd rounder and Indiana's which will be an early-mid 2nd rounder more than likely. This has to be better value than rumors like Nene and his health issues/contract for ronron.

^^First off, Justin Williams was just cut, so that part won't happen. Other than that, it just looks like every other failed idea to get Artest to the Knicks.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

That JO deal is off the damn table, thankfully. The Maloofs didn't want to do it, and it was an exploratory situation.

David Aldridge said that.

That wouldn't make sense for us anyway. Not from a team, player, and financial stand-point.

I'm swaying to that way, as well. Especially and at least with the Ron show.

I could legitimately see Brad moved to a number of teams, though. Doesn't mean it's probable he will, though.

--------

To that Knick proposal - Justin has no reason to be included, and wouldn't be given up. Also isn't happening without David Lee, anyway.

Unrealistic proposal.

can you explain why? what do you expect to get for artest, i just read in another thread you guys said unload kt get expirings and 1 mid first rounder unless im seeing things.. and this trade is nowhere near the usual knick trade attempts which usually are 2 team trades with no expirings/picks/or balk..

No Lee = No Artest. Pretty simple equation. And now that Petrie has cleared a lot of salary for next season, it will make it a lot easier for the Kings to either re-sign Artest this summer (assuming both sides want to continue a relationship) or accommodate a S&T deal for him over the summer. Bottom line, there is no urgency to move Artest right now unless the deal clearly makes the Kings better. Your deal clearly does not.

I think we are done, but Im hoping that we can trade Ron as well. I think he still can be dealt to NY or Denver. I think we are done but I hope I am wrong. Im glad to see that we arent sitting on our hands.

I like Ron a lot, but I dont want him here for the rest of the year if he is just going to walk. Maybe Peach dealing Ron, shows Ron that he is our center piece and that we would rather have him than Bibby. I'm interested in seeing what Ron says about the trade. Hopefully we can get another deal done before the trade deadline goes by us.

thats what i said, they claim KTs 1 more year than maliks is a valid reason, yet the knicks wont be under the cap till after KT expires anyway.. and im sure artest winning games for the knicks when they wanna see the team lose has something to do with it..

Eh, I dont really put attention to several Knicks fans (No offense) due to their "characteristics" but at least you are thinking realistic... What is your opinion of a fair deal for Artest then?

fair i really dont think is possible but i think the kings just havta get what they can, i was thinking an expiring, mid-late 1st rounder, and a prospect at least.. artest is a top 2 way player in the nba who obviously has baggage and can opt out so a player even near his talent wouldnt be too realistic (due to the risk of the team sending that player).. obviously i was tryin to make a trade to the knicks who need their 1st this year, and didnt have an expiring that matched rons so i included miami who had 2 early 2009 2nds and an expiring while gettin rid of fatass eddy curry. but really i cant blame yas for thinkin its an ass trade but none of us really know his true value and i figured capspace/shaving a year off kennys, some picks, and a young sf wouldnt be a bad start..
