Can we get Wright and/or Lue to Dallas?

Post#1 » by catalyst » Wed Feb 20, 2008 11:12 pm

Mavs need help and kings have the help. Roster is decimated following the Kidd Trade. I know the TRT is in place, and we need to separate trades. Mavs can offer the following:

Eddie Jones
Juwan Howard - exp
JJ Barea - exp
Malik Allen - exp and TRT
Antoine Wright - exp and TRT
Devean George - exp and TE
$3mm cash
$2.8 mm exception from Anthony Johnson we got from atl.

Help?

My preference is Wright, b/c I think Terry can be the back up 1 as well as starting 2. Helps to have depth tho.

Thanks

If I were you, I would just wait and see if the Kings trade Artest in a 1 for 3 deal, then proceed to cut Lue/Wright.

There's no real motivation to just trade expirings for expirings. But the TE and a 2nd for Lue or Wright would be more than welcome.

I think Lue could be had for a later pick , just to clear some roster space for another move.

Thanks for the help guys. We will see what happens. Looks like Sea was the lucky team to get elson and barry. Yet another barry in Washington state.

Actually this is a return trip for Brent.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

Just need a little incentive to do it and they're yours IMO.

Sure.

I actually suggested Wright to Dallas yesterday, he'd be just what Dallas needs on the bench. He's not Diop, but he's still an effective, tough veteran center, from seeing him at times in Atlanta.

Didn't think about back-up PG for Dallas, but that's a need too for Dallas. Lue would be good.

Like others said, just have to give some value.

Cuban says they are looking at Justin. I think that would be a mistake for both sides. Justin isn't ready for that and if he isn't he'll be buried with, once again, no chance to devlop his game.

They should go after Lo-Wright. We have no need for him anyway and he compliments Dirk. Just give us a 2nd rounder or something for the guy and he's all yours.

"If somebody gets cut or there's a trade, a guy like [recently waived] Justin Williams at Sacramento, who is kind of like where DeSagana was a couple years ago, we'll take a look," Cuban said.

There's no rush, unless the Mavericks have another trade they want to complete by today's 3 p.m. deadline. Such a deal seems unlikely.

The more likely scenario is that the Mavericks will watch the waiver wire and perhaps give a call to somebody like veteran 6-11 forward/center Dale Davis, who has been semi-retired in the Keith Van Horn mold.

"He's on the list," Cuban said.
