What position do you think we should be looking for in next years draft. It is March and this is the best time to look at possible draf picks for next year. I have been thinking we would draft a PG, now that we have dealt Bibby, but Beno has looked like he could start for this team. We dont know where Ron will end up next year so we could go with a SF as well. We mite want to get a guy that can play well with Spencer in the near future.

So what position do we go after in this years NBA Draft?

I'd go with a big or point guard. Whoever is a better player available. If Ron is gone, there's Salmons/Garcia to fill the role. But knowing Petrie, if Ron is gone and there's a SF he is drooling for, I wouldnt be surprised if he draft a SF.

I think we should package draft picks with Kevin and shop them for a disgruntled franchise big. The draft is overrated.

Unless I'm missing someone obvious I can't think of a disgrunted big who is a fransice player and worth Kevin + picks....

Point, easy. I always said it's more important to get a pass first point guard. And I think we have a better chance of getting a nice bigen in the FA in the next two years.

Unless we diside to give up everythnig we have at a shot at like Calderon.

Either way, a possible Artest to Tor might be somewhat realistic for one of their two pg's?

Both Calderon/Beno and Ford/Beno would be a top 3 PG rotation in the league.

However, I think it all falls on who is available at the time. If a SG/SF slips through that Petrie is 100% sure will become a superstar in the league, then that's who he will draft. Otherwise, unless a stellar C falls, perhaps a Jordan, our best bet is a PG or PF, also depending on who is there and who is not.

It's really a moot point for this summer anyway. The Base Year status from Martin's contract extension will make it virtually impossible to trade him anyway. Something like this would have to wait until the summer of 2009 to realistically consider it. But as for the underlying concept...I would easily trade Martin and a pick for an upgrade in the interior. Martin is expendable in my book.

I think we need a playmaking PG that can handle the ball well and create shots for others by getting to the basket so I'd like Lawson or Augustin(if he falls) if we're in the 10-12 range which we probably will be. I think that would make us a lot more effective and make everyone's job easier. Beno's not the real deal IMO.

I say you take the BPA regardless of position. Beggars can't be choosers here and we need an all-star level talent out of this pick. If we get a Caron Butler talent on the wing, SO BE IT. We can always trade to fill the holes. With that said, I do think the BPA in the 10-14 range will probably be a PG like Augustin, Collison or Lawson. And I can definitely see Petrie nabbing a PG to CHA in the occasion that Miami comes ruffling some 6-7 million dollar deal Beno's way this off-season.

What do you mean by "nabbing a PG to CHA"? Are you saying dealing our pick to the bobcats???

what is the highest pick the clippers would have to have in order for you guys to trade us martin? is #5-7 and fillers for martin enough?

I would take Brand for Martin and our pick...and the Clipps can keep their pick.

I wouldn't give Martin and our pick for a guy that's coming off a season long injury (Brand)

As far as who to draft for, I think that it's a pretty forgone conclusion that it'll either be a PG or PF.

One of the guys I've been thinking about as far as a possible PF option that would likely still be available at SAC's pick might be UCLA's Kevin Love.

Not in this draft. Not a proven 25 ppg guy, never in this draft.

We just got Spencer Hawes. I would be pissed if Peach drafted him. I'd rather get Anthony Randolph or Hasheem Thabeet if we chose to get another big man.

I would go with a power forward first then point guard next....I like Darrell Arthur or DJ Augustine in this draft....

Our team has a few glaring problems that we need to rectify and this summer is the perfect time to do it.

Problem
All of our easy buckets come through Brad Miller. He makes our offense go.
Solution
Get a pass first PG so that we don't have to rely soley on Miller. We could realistically draft a good pass first PG or we could trade for one using Artest in a Sign and Trade

Problem
Artest needs to have the ball in his hands. This just slows down our team. He wants to isolate and drive while our team is built around ball movement.
Solution
Trade artest or don't resign him

Problem
Interior defense.
Solution
Draft a guy like Darell Arthur or try to develop Shelden Williams


here is what our game plan should be
Trade Artest for TJ Ford
Develop Shelden
Draft Donte Greene

New Lineup
Ford/Udrih
Martin/Salmons
Garcia/Greene
Shelden/SAR/Moore
Miller/Hawes

This lineup is much more prepared to move the ball. However if everyone is satisfied with Garcia and Salmons as the other wings then we should draft either Darell Arthur or Anthony Randolph. Both guys would really benifit this team.
