Does Douby remind anyone else of...

Anthony Peeler? I mean he is a similar player IMO. 6'3'' combo guard(AP was 6'4'') that likes to shoot, can slash a bit, and can be instant O coming off the bench. I really liked AP during his season with us in 04. Q reminds me of that, but maybe his ceiling is a little higher. Both also have long arms, and the potential for QD to be a good defender like AP was decent is there IMO.

There's no point in giving up on Quincy after just his 2nd year. He's shown flashes of pure brilliance at times(few and far between I know)...but the guy has only been playing ball for like 6-7 years total now. Most guys play 6-7 years of organized basketball today before HS.

He's only a million on the books. If we can move one of Salmons/Artest/Garcia to fill a need at PG/PF...then that'll open up minutes for Douby behind Martin and next year I have a feeling he can take a jump up.

I thought you were going to say a deer in the headlights...he reminds me of that all the time.

I disagree with Smills (of course). He's a redundant role player on the team and really doesn't fill the role we need him to fill (back-up point). I would have no problem with moving him for a pick.

I think he'll be alright... he still needs the minutes... he can defiantly score in the league, but wither or not he gets the opportunities is yet to be decided.

It probably won't happen here, but i see him as a good bench player down the road

I dont see the Anthony Peeler comparison.

I think he will be a good player in this league, on both offense and defense. But I just dont think he will be here for very long. We have our two young wing players in Kevin and Cisco, and Cisco plays the point better than Douby. I like Douby a lot but I he would be better off not playing behind Cisco Kev and John. He still has a spot on the teams bench and will get 8-12 minutes a game, but I think he should be getting more than that.

He reminds me of me, or in other words, someone who likes basketball, but sure as hell can't play it. Sure, both of us get lucky once in a while, but most of the time we just suck.

He hasn't impressed me.

Yeah, if we could trade him for a pick, I'd consider it. We need picks (which would become PGs/PF I hope) more then we need Quincy.

Like Wise, I think hes more like b-jax, deadly jump shot & a quick slasher, great defense.

Douby has not impressed me at all this year. He has regressed. I was excited about Douby at the end of last year. Now I consider him trade filler. I know he is better than he has shown and I think he has a decent future in the NBA, but I've lost my excitement for him.

He is too dumb to play the pg position and too small to play sg. When I say dumb I mean he dosn't have the skills to play pg so he makes a lot of bad mistakes. He is not a great ballhandler, he is not a good passer (he has made so many bad passes), he does not have well enough court awareness (hence all the 24 shot clock expirations and just bad decisions in general).

Most of his flaws are because he has not played basketball for very long. But I don't want to wait 3 years for him to develope these skills.

I do see the Bobby Jax. comparison. Except Bobby was waaaaaaaaaay better. Bobby could of been a starter on many teams. Douby shouldn't be starting for anybody.

^Bobby with the Kings was the prime of his career, this is Douby's 2nd year. In Bobby's 2nd year he was probably just about as good as Douby is now. Point is a lot of us judge Douby for what he gives now when he isn't even getting the opportunity. If he does get PT (20+ mins/game instead of 10) I think he can be a legit weapon for us off the bench to provide instant offense. I think his ceiling is a mix of Jackson and Barbosa. Also a lot of us dont realize how long Douby is. Defensively he'll be better than a Jackson or Barbosa because he gets in hands on a lot of balls whether it be deflections or blocks.

I still wouldnt give up on him, if the Kings had done that with Garcia and Martin, we would be in alot worse situation right now.

Im all for giving him another year or two, seeing how he has improved and seeing if he can fill the roll as a backup scorer.

Different situations, Martin showed flashes and his 2nd season he improved so much you knew he was going to be a player.

Garcia had a much, much bigger pedigree coming into the league. I think the Kings knew eventually he would settle down and become the player everyone saw at Louisville. I mean just look at it. Garcia can shoot just as well as Douby, has better handles and plays defense.

So I don't see the comparisons...........

Douby messed up with this pick if he would've pick one of the PGs (Williams, Rondo or Farmar) we would probably have Bibby's replacement.

I think the thing that helped Garcia the most is the fact that he and Reggie have history from Louisville. Out of all of the guys on the team, Garcia is the only one who Theus had a good idea about what he was capable of coming in and likely knew how he wanted to use him.

As I said before, Douby was brought in with the hope that he would be a combo guard who would regularly fill the back-up point slot. It was a gamble, but I don't think this gamble will pay off. He can shoot, but he can't handle the ball well. It's time to move him.

I don't thin that Quincy's problems are his handles at all. I think that he has improved on that part of his game and that it has shown in his play.

I do think that he lacks the playmaking skills right now to play any PG really, and I think that that's his biggest problem. Also, at times, he plays with the intelligence of a bag of sand, which to be fair, can be partially chalked up to his lack of experience. But I think he could be better in a situation where he gets an opportunity. Unfortunately, SGs in PGs bodies aren't exactly in high demand in this league, but I'm willing to give him another year if there isn't a viable trade. I just trust Geoff too much to assume that he's still a bust, and realize that his main problem (basketball IQ IMO) is something that he can still improve on.

^Yeah, I think basketball IQ is by far his biggest problem. He just doesn't know how to read the defense and make the right play. The talent is there, his ballhandling isn't a problem either. He can be an impact player on both offense and defense. Douby said he started playing basketball his junior year of HS, so basically 2 years of high school ball, 2 years at Rutgers and his 2 years here is the only basketball experience he has. This offseason he needs the coaches to work with him on just understanding the game of basketball and making the right play. Im still high on Douby unlike many Kings fans and I believe he can be a sixth man type of player here.

You have a strong penchent for being wrong and this is the main reason why.

I agree with you a lot. The funny thing is people say he will never be able to be a spark off the bench and bring up Bobby J but that was in the prime of his career. He had already bounced around 2 or 3 teams by the time he got here. If he was who he was here in other places he wouldn't have moved on to Sac eventually.

I think Douby/Cisco will be good 6th/7th men for us, both playing 20-30 MPG(Douby should get a few of Kevin's back up minutes and all of the PG's, Cisco should play the rest of the back up SG/SF minutes) as soon as next year.

Just for the record, Bobby put 7/3/3 in 18 minutes a game in his second year as a backup on a T'Wolves team probably about at our level.

But he also was old for his experience, turning 26 in March of his sophomore year. And he regressed the following year before coming here.

He's defiantly looking like he can score on anyone, but he seems like he'll be a volume shooter... i don't know if i'll like that
