Facts about Kevin This Year

How many players have ever averaged at least 9 FTAs per game and shot at least 40% from three (taking at least 1 three per game)? One. Kevin Martin, this season.
How many players have ever averaged at least 8 FTAs per game and shot at least 40% from three (taking at least 1 three per game)? Two. Kevin Martin and Michael Jordan.
Just thought it was pretty interesting, especially after the comments made by Theus on wednesday.

Yeah, I saw this particular statistic earlier last week. Anyways, congratulations Martin! I cant not believe Martin is the only player in the NBA to do this feat. It is kinda mind boggling, really.

40% from the 3 is rare for top scorers, it's usually a mark acheived by designated shooters who don't go to the line a lot, that's the reason it was watered down to only Martin and MJ, and to be honest, the 40% mark is kinda redundant to what I believe this stat comes to show, which is offensive versatility (shooting from long range and still drawing a lot of fouls).
When I saw it I went and checked the 3 (active) guys I suspected would fail this theory, Arenas, Kobe and Billups, the first 2 were below 40% and Billups didn't go to the line enough.

His versatility is what gives him the ability to score so many points. What I read from the stat is his versatility is unique, but at the same time if you take away the versatility in his game he becomes a less effective scorer. I give Martin props as there are a lot of scorers that can only score with one weapon.
Other scorers are gifted to the point they don't need that versatility in their game.

Yea I know, I guess you have a point. I'm not sure if that was one of the years MJ took a ton of 3s though. There are a couple years where he shot some 3s toward the end of his career, then a few mixed in there where he barely shot any.
So I guess I like to look at the number of attempts more. And I know you're a Kings fan too

So Kevin took a lot more three's per game as well, (if this year MJ played 82). Good stuff.
