Will We Draft Someone w/o A Workout?

Do we draft a player at #12 that we have not worked out. I dont ever remember Peach drafting someone with-out looking at him first. Out of the possible guys that we go with at 12 we have worked out:

Darrel Arthur
DJ Augustin
Joe Alexander
Russel Westbrook
Nicolas Batum
Brandon Rush

...but havent worked out guys like

DeAndre Jordan
Anthony Randolph
Mareese Speights
Donte Green
Danilo Gallineri

Do you think we would draft someone that we havent worked out. Or even not draft a guy that maybe slipped in the draft (say Jarryd Bayless) and instead draft someone that we worked out like Roy Hibbert. I have seen more mock drafts saying that we will wind up getting Anthony Randolph than anybody else, but for that to occur Peach would end up doing something I dont remember him ever doing.

I remember reading somewhere the Speights worked out for us and that we saw Jordan workout also. We worked out McGee too.

I have been keeping a list of guys we've seen and worked out, but still havent seen either of their names. If you give me a link I would love to see it.

The Rockets and the Warriors had workouts, and the Kings went to see the workouts... Speights was in one of them, and so was Randolph. We havent worked them out privately... maybe one could be a surprise pick, so that we can have them as trade bait to the Warriors or one of the lower selecting teams.

Thompson and Speights were both headed to workouts in Sacramento while White was stopping next in Denver. The Jazz project Thompson and White as power forwards in the NBA and Speights as a power forward capable of playing some center at times.

(On what other workouts he has scheduled)
After I leave here, I do the East Coast thing, New Jersey and Philly and then I fly west to Sacramento, Portland, Golden State and the Clippers.

Don't have a link for Jordan because I read it a while ago and don't remember where exactly.

Gallinari isn't falling out of the top ten, Augustin probably won't make it past Indiana, same goes for Westbrook past Charlotte. Personally I don't think either will.

Randolph hasn't worked out for us, and has declined to.

Ok cool. Thanks for the info guys, my mistake I never came across this news.

Do you know what Petrie thought of either of the players?

You missed Jason Thompson and Donte Greene. Randolph shouldn't be on the list also.

In that case (2nd quote), it best, and really should mean were taking Arthur and not Hibbert.

Christ... I don't think it's going to happen, but just the possibility of drafting Hibbert isn't cool. Really would have to wonder what we are doing at PF/C... would Geoff and Theus be that in love with the Princeton offense, where they just like, completely dismiss the requirement of general defensive mobility and execution? I just don't see it.

Yeah, I have No Idea what I would do if we drafted Hibbert, we have so many other options to go. I really hope that road is not one that Petrie takes.

It really wouldn't be that bad. We would just need a 3rd big capable of playing starter's minutes that would bring what we would lack--more of a real PF that is more mobile. That way we could adjust when certain matchups would really hurt us. Like something like a Arthur/Hawes/Hibbert combination moving forward may look interesting.

Huh? That's assuming that we have 2 first round picks. (Our #12 and a mid-first). We don't have a 2nd 1st round pick.

No I know. I'm just using it as an example stylistically.

In other words, I'm just saying that a Hibbert/Hawes frontline could be fine if we had a 3rd big that could keep up with other team's quicker PFs and could be a legitimate starter. I just used Arthur as an example, but it could be a bunch of guys--like, I don't know, Tyrus Thomas or someone. The idea is just to get 3 bigs that bring different things to the table offensively and more importantly in this case, defensively. So if we face a team with an especially quick and skilled PF that is killing us because Spencer can't guard him, we can bring in the 3rd big and either have him play with Hibbert or move Spencer up to center.

Yeah, I know. I was only kidding. :) But yeah, that's a good way to put it.

At #12, NO. Other than Rose/Beasley/Mayo and MAYBE Lopez there is a shot that anyone who goes projected lotto COULD be our pick. If they don't work out for us(other than those 3-4) then we don't pick them IMO. Anyone else could potentially slip to us.

At 42/43 YES I think there is a chance we draft someone we didn't work out.

Yup, that's how it'd have to be, if not moving somebody and having Hibbert back-up C. But, just don't know if we'd go to do that kind of approach.

I also think it's unecessary to have to do that, because we'd draft Hibbert... just go with generally effective starting PFs next to Spencer. Keep it simple, and positive at the same time.
