What grade do you give the Kings in this draft and why?

The realgm writers gave them a D, which was the worst out of any team, the next lowest team was a C-


I think I would give us a C- mainly because of the Singletary pick, because im big on this guy. I think that he can produce decent numbers in the NBA in the future.

I think that people grading the draft 24 hours after proving that they don't have a **** clue about team wants, needs, or valuations is downright laughable.

Yeah, if you read Chris Reina's (Real GM) grade explanation, it comes off like he was just pissed because Petrie didn't pick the way he thought he should pick. I mean, how dare Petrie pick a player based on his assessment of that player's skills and potential and not pick players that all the pundits have hyped for the last several month. Oh well, Chad Fraud had a similar reaction.

As for my take, I give the draft a B-. We addressed our most glaring needs, took players who will mesh with our style of play, and have guys who can make rotational contributions right away. My deductions come from the Ewing pick (there were better guys available) and because of the overall impression of "ok...but we still need someone to build around". Overall, though, the draft is just one tool, one club in the bag GMs use to get the ball on the green. I think Petrie did a decent job with that tool; he's gotten the team within a chip-shot of the green.

(not sure what's prompted the golf analogies...must mean that I need to hit the driving range).

Basically draft grading is based on (#projected position - #Drafting position), the problem is that people who give projections are less (much less) qualified than GM with a proven track record like Petrie, I believe the Peja pick would've gotten F in 96, if we picked Marcus Williams 2 years ago we would've gotten A and we know how this turn out.
We may have criticism (I do at least), but he's higher and have proven a lot to be evaluated by unproffisional scouts, I like the pick and I trust the pick.
Also, we agree that the pick fits, big rebounding PG with good offense, the only problem was the place, and Petrie said he had info he was going to be snatched at 14 by GSW.

Its Chris Reina any way, no offense to him, but i remember when he was a regular poster on the trade board and i have never been impressed with him (and his mocks are terrible). Thues is happy with it, Kevin Martin is happy with it, Petrie is happy with it, i'm happy with it. People just have to give Thompson a chance. Same thing happened with Martin

It will certainly be a hit or miss. This will either work out GREAT or not.

Yeah, agreed. But I would grade the draft a C+.

Honestly, I could careless what this so called Draft experts have to say. If they knew what they were talking about they would be a GM of a team. I think grading teams right after the draft is a call to have more hits on your site.
