Livingston?

Post#1 » by SacTown Kings » Sun Jun 29, 2008 3:27 pm

He will be a free agent. Should we go after him? We can't offer him more than the MLE so it's not like we can give him a better deal than anyone else. However, we can offer him a starting position if we let Beno walk. Or would you rather sign Beno for the MLE, we at least know Beno can play. With Livingston health issues it is a big risk but one that could have a bigger reward.

I just do not want another Bobby Hurley. It was painful to see him run and attempt to jump after his car accident. Hopefully Livingston can make a better recovery.

I don't see LIvingston as a solid option. Too injury prone to throw out to much money and too unproven. There is a reason the Clippers decided not to resign him. All this does is give us one more option

Maybe I may be one of the few, but I do not see us finding our pg of the future through free agency. So if we want our pg of the future we need to make a trade. However, if we are only going to go after someone in free agency I would love to get livingston. He has probably the most upside of anyone out there, but has the BIG IF of staying healthy. If he can stay healthy they we could get a steal. Before he got hurt again he was starting to show a lot.

Yeah, the injury was a shame. I think at this point the KIngs can't have too much competition at PG. So, why not sign him to a modest incentive laden deal and still trade for another PG.

Yeah I agree. If he can stay healthy he could be a huge up grade because of how much talent he has!

If we signed him it should be no longer than 2 years, but I would rather re-sign Beno and invite someone like Jamont Gordon to our summer league to get a look at.

I'd love to sign him to a year or two deal. He was a favorite of mine before the injury and i'd love to see him in a Kings Uni. It's a risk, but not a huge one if we can get him cheap.

Minimum contract, 2nd year team option, incentives for production/games played

He insists on any more and no deal.

If he can't shoot the three he can't be a King.

I would have no problem if we gave him a shot, I actually would like us to get him. He is a young kid that had a lot of potential before his injury happened. If we could get him for a small deal, maybe 2 years then we try and grab him.

I'm very interested in seeing what happens..

Sign me up. Give him a one year deal. If he plays well, we sign him to a deal that he deserves.
Interesting, you have some ideas you would like to bounce off Brian Sabean? That's strange, I have some objects I would like to bounce off Brian Sabean.

I wouldn't mind taking a chance on him, but not for MLE-type money or a long-term deal... 1-year with a team option for 2nd year.

I really liked him before his injury

The Clippers rescinded the qualifying offer from him, which doesn't usually happen unless a team has really lost faith in a player. With Livingston, it's probably because of his injury, but regardless it seems quite questionable that he'll really find a place in this league again. Pretty sad, really.

Louis Williams will be the better option.

What I have heard from most pundits is that he takes 90 minutes to warm up and be ready to run. That does not look good for long-term injury concerns.

I say definetlely not. Go after Duhon with the full MLE if we're not going to keep Beno.

Louis Williams is staying with Philly... and yeah, Duhon I'd love to get.

Predicated on what? The fact that he was caught in a minutes crunch with two offense-first guards (Hinrich, Gordon) AND no offensively skilled big men yet still put up nice numbers in limited time? I like him as a veteran option while Singletary and whoever we draft in the next two years (or maybe sign in 2010) to be able to efficiently run the team. If you ask me who is worth the full MLE, Beno or Duhon, I say Duhon could justify the offer but I am really leary of Beno's playing style (shoot-first mentality) and durability (Duhon has avraged 79-80 games a year for his first three years in the L).
