This was proposed on the Trade forum and I really like it for both teams.

Clippers Trades
-Al Thornton
-Tim Thomas

Sacramento Trades
-Ron Artest

I would happily drive all the principles myself! This is the kind of deal that makes sense and is nice for both sides. Clips are obviously going for win now while we are in rebuild with youth and TT will expire while mentoring the young forwards while Thornton is a nice building piece. i would go so far as to include a future protected first to LA.

I'd do that as well, but I wouldn't include a first! I'd say it's the other way around. The Clips give us their 1st. Do they have another expiring that they can take Kenny Thomas away with? That would ice it for me.

Artest & a 1st should be restricted only to a S&T scenario with Brand.

I wouldn't throw in a 1st nor should the Clips throw in a 1st. Artest for Thornton would be a great deal for us, the guy is going to be a stud. I just don't see the Clips doing this.

Petrie wanted Thornton, but went with Hawes, he won't be the one to turn this down.

I think

Artest, Douby, 2nd
for
TT, Thornton

is fair for both teams

That trade makes sense for both teams. Clippers are in contend now mode, Kings are going with young players. Your team would be even more entertaining to watch. And if you can get ther 1st rounder, even better. Someone e-mail this to Petrie.

I still don't think it makes all that much sense for the Clippers--at least not when looking at this year. Ron is a great piece for a team looking to win now, but this leaves them with pretty much no depth whatsoever, and no pieces that will allow them to add any depth.

I would love the deal though.

Wha...aaat???????

C: Kaman, Davis
PF: Brand, Powell
SF: Ron, Ross
SG: Mobley, Gordon
PG: Davis, Knight

That's 10 deep right there, they'd still have their vet minimum's to fill out the roster with and that team is UNREAL. Why would the clips NOT do this trade again???

Clips wouldn't do this because Artest could only be a rental. Throw in Shelden Williams, we'll throw in Dan Dickau S&T and a 2nd round pick.

Kings Get:
Al Thornton
Tim Thomas
Future 2nd Round Pick
Dan Dickau S&T (1 year, minimum amount to make deal work) (partically guaranteed if allowed by CBA)

Clippers Get:
Ron Artest
Shelden Williams

If its the difference between Brand staying or not...

Good deal where do I sign up?

Perfect for the Clips then Brand would have a real Big 3 instead of Davis, Brand & Kaman, it would be Davis, Brand & Artest.

Some one e mail this thing over to Petrie

If the Clippers are really nervous abound Brand resigning, I don't think they have that kind of leverage in negotiations.

Clippers wouldn't even think of trading Thornton for Artest if Brand wasn't a Clipper (which he certainly will be). An Artest/Thornton swap probably wouldn't happen for a few weeks until every media source speculates on how bad the Clippers would need to make that trade and pressure the Clips into it. Clippers aren't going to make any moves until Elton is in the fold.

I think this deal is even MORE likely if Brand were to bolt. Artest is a strong defender and post presence. Sure Ron COULD be a rental, but he wouldn't be if you re-sign him with Bird rights and you TRY to compete which you would be doing by trading for him. Pulling the 'rental' card is pretty illogical.

Hard to be illogical when it comes to Artest. Because with Ron, anything can happen. Thornton is a real prize IMO. I don't know about value, but for both teams it just seems right. Clippers, like I said, just need a little safety net.

I don't think he's going to go wild like he used to at times in Indiana, anymore.

I also don't think anybody should be into getting Ron if they feel like he will. Pointless.

I'd have agreed with you a week ago, but Ron just weirded me out with this whole opt out issue he's having. And who knows how he gonna act in a big city like Los Angeles. I'm not saying that I wouldn't take the risk on Ron, but like I've said, gotta have a safety net. Shelden Williams isn't too much to ask.
