With the Sonics now officially out of Seattle, it's time for Sacramento to wake up and realize that unless the arena situation gets resolved completely in a hurry, Kings fans could well be in the same situation and it would be our own damn fault.

I know the plan to have something in the Cal Expo area is still in the works, but it's far from a done deal.

We as fans need to be doing all we can do to insure the continuance of basketball in Sacramento.

Never going to happen. The progress being made in the CalExpo idea is a good indication that there is enough amicable interest in keeping the team in Sacramento. Even if that deal falls through, the likelihood of the Maloofs moving the team to Seattle would be less than nil...the city will just not front the money for an arena when there are some major infrastructure issues that are more important.

I think I remember David Stern has said something about not wanting to let the Kings move from Sacramento. Also, I think we will start hearing a lot more about the Arena leading up to the start of the season. It seems like they have a pretty good plan of action on the new Arena.

Didn't Stern also make similar statements as far as keeping the Sonics in Seattle?

No, all he did threaten the state and city government that if they wouldn't foot the bill for a stadium that he would easily allow the team to leave. What he did in Seattle could better be described as strong-arm tactics in an attempt to extort a deal for a new arena. There was nothing resembling good-faith negotiation in anything he did in Seattle.

Seattle fans are looking to get a new team and that means King Fans beware! Seattle got to keep the name (Sonics) so if it happened that the Kings would leave it would turn into the Sonics again, and that would mean that the Kings name would probably stay in Sacramento.
