Gerald Wallace

Post#1 » by clank » Wed Jul 9, 2008 4:57 pm

Kings fans, do you see anyway we could package Artest and such to retieve Wallace? Im sure the kings fanbase as well as ownership would love see Wallace back in a Kings uni... Maybe with Brown running the Bobcats and as a defensive minded coach this type of activity would not be out of the possibility. I love Artests game but would love to see Wallace as a major core piece for the kings moving into the future..Thoughts?

Bobcats fan here....Dont really think it is out of the question we would look at moving Gerald...I dont think anyone on our team is untouchable right now w/ JRich probably being the closest....only problem is we wouldnt want Artest, Gerald is a also defensive minded SF with less drama who we have locked into a contract...we all know Artest's history plus he complaining about his $$ now....just makes more sense to keep Gerald in that situation......what we most need is a big, to either play with or replace Okafor and all you really have is B Miller and we definetly wouldnt trade Crash for him.....

Yeah, can't see Wallace back in a Kings uniform. We don't have anything that the Bobcats would want, other than Martin (who they would take because of pure value, even though they don't have a need for him), and we all know Martin isn't going anywhere, especially for Wallace.

So is K Martin considered untouchable?? Cause while most bobcats fans probably wouldnt based on what Gerald means to this team, I would consider something like Gerald + Felton for KMartin & Shelden plus maybe a lottery protected pick....do you guys consider that fair value?

Nah, Okafor's the only thing on Charlotte that would make us consider trading Kevin.

I wouldn't mind having Gerald on the team again, but definitely not if we had to give up Kevin.

True> wallace does defend but not like Artest. With Mr. Brown at the helm I'm not sure he doesn't think he couldn't keep artest in-check.. Somehow is it possible we could package artest & etc. to
the bobcats for the return of Wallace and stuff which may allow them to get cap space for Okafor??

Clank....NO give that idea a rest....you could get Gerald but Artest aint gonna do it....for the reasons I first stated, then you have to realize the off the court ramifications....Charlotte, NC is a very conservative southern city that is already having a hard time getting the fans re-interested in the NBA thanks to George Shinn & the Hornets and the so-called perceived "thugs" of the NBA...If this team goes out & gets Artest then its a wrap and unless he becomes a choir boy and leads us to the playoffs when our lease expires we would become the new Seattle Sonics lol(and not a whole lot here in Charlotte would probably care). Plus based on what LB has said since he been here he hates how things ended in NY and the selfish players and drama surrounding the team while we may not have a great team yet what we do have is a good core of young guys that play hard and stay outta trouble at LB's age I dont think he wants any part of something like trying to keep someone in check he just wants to coach em up....

Mitch the funny thing is you probably could get Okafor with less resistence than Gerald....the majority of 'Cats fan would prefer to keep Gerald over Okafor we just dont have any other legit big men...we got May (who has played a full season in 3 yrs & some wonder if he will ever amount to anything now) and a young French big who avg 5 pts & 5 rbs in the league he played in so dont have any bigs to replace EO50 thats the only problem there....

This won't happen. No Artest for Wallace isn't fair for Char and Martin for Wallace isn't even close (not because of talent, because of injury for Wallace). The only way this could happen is if a 3rd team got involved. I thought maybe dallas could work, possibly clippers, but I really don't know. The third team has to value Artest highly, and I'm just not sure if anyone can actually do that. Kings will most likely have to add garcia or williams, which I am okay with. Whoever said that the kings would do a martin & sheldon for Wallace and Felton is off their rocker. Martin has an extraordinary value to the kings; the only players that could get martin out of sac are young, perrinial all-stars who are the foundation to build a team upon. Wallace and Felton and Okafor alone wouldn't do it for Martin, personal opinion, but I think that's a pretty good barometer

What about a 3 way of Artest/k9 to LAL, Odom + filler to Bobcats and Crash to Sacto?

I would only consider Wallace if he comes with a stout crash helmet. Frankly I'm not too keen on the idea of a guy who is highly injury prone and is one concussion away from forced medical retirement. The Kings are rebuilding and I want to rebuild with guys who are not already broken into pieces.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

Yeah, when Gerald was here before he used to scare the crap out of me the way he'd hit the floor so hard, and so often. No thanks from the Kings.

I don't know, maybe it's me but I am not too high on Okafor. I think he is not living up to that #2 pick status. I look at him as a defensive specialist and nothing more.

The thing with all this G. Wallace talk is that the Kings should be about as interested in him as they are in Hedo, i.e. both are talented but being as they both play the 3 spot, they don't really fill a need.

I would love to see swingman Maurice Evans back in the Kings' uniform. When the Kings had Gerald, he was a quality player with lots of potential but they let him go to let other worse players play instead. I think that getting Gerald would be an OK move but at what price I don't know. And Maurice Evans is a free agent Orlando just had too many SG and not enough money/playing time to go around for all of them.
