The NBA announced today that Brad Miller of the Sacramento Kings has been suspended without pay for five games for violating the terms of the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program.
Miller’s suspension will begin with the first game of the 2008-09 NBA regular season for which he is eligible and physically able to play.

I don't know how much Brad does whatever he did, but if it's more than occasional and something more than minor - it's just another poor excuse to help with something else. Which can be dealt with better than drugs.

i think we are in agreement that it wasnt steroids... the guy couldn't push a plastic cone out of the way if it was separating him from the basket

Can it be just pot? I don't think it's a big deal if it is.
I hope it increases (or creates for that matter) his "street cred", bad boy Brad.

The corporate world is firing people for drug use,or better yet not even giving guys like you and me a job to begin with. Brad is lucky he's in the NBA and that he's just "suspended".

I'm not talking from corporate POV but from a casual fan, I would have a much bigger problem with an athlete using heavy drug Vs pot.

If he was only suspended 5 games you can be sure it wasn't anything too serious. I am a bit surprised for sure.
I hope everything is alright in his part of the world.

Most likely marijuana. But it could be crack, the reason he got cornrows.

Wow! Brad and drugs? Im surprised that he does that. But again, majority of the players in the NBA does something drug related even though they don't get caught. This suspension would teach Brad a lesson or two. Don't do drugs!

Using drugs is totally unacceptable under any circumstances, for god sake brad this is not the time for experimenting you just became a father you need to grow up.
From Brad Miller: "I want to apologize to my family, teammates, fans and entire Kings organization. I made a mistake. It was an error in judgment and I'm very sorry. I regret it deeply. It's something I won't and can't take lightly. I hope to bounce back from this as a better person and I'm excited about the upcoming season."http://www.sacbee.com/static/weblogs/sports/kings/
I’m sure he will learn from this mistake and become a better man.
Musselman-artest-brad, we can't catch a break..

as i've stated on here before, brad smokes weed, i know for a fact, i know people that atleast USED to be close to him, kicked it with him, he likes to chief, no big deal. why are you guys surprised, brad seems like the the typical casual weed smoker. and it ain't a big deal, i mean its going to be made a big deal since he's a athlete and a role model and all that but, lol its just a little chronic guys. not like its crank or heroin or something. i saw the article on the front page and just started laughing to be honest. and it might shatter some of yalls worlds but theres a grip of guys in the league, even other celebrities you "wouldn't expect" to smoke, that like to smoke. of course its "bad" its against the law, thats a whole other debate not for this thread, but really though, brad should have been more careful not to get caught, with the amount of guys that smoke in the league its amazing how many get away with it, guess brad got caught up this time. awell, not big deal.

The only thing that worries me about this is this suspension, coupled with the games he will likely miss due to injury or other will make Brad a 50-60 game player again. I like Spencer a great deal, but we need Brad for 90%+ of the season, not 60-75 again. After last season I expect Good Brad again...but for the whole season!

a-rod, why are you dwelling on the past (Musselman-Artest incidents) when that stuff was resolved and generally moved on? No doubt what happened was bad, but it's been over for awhile now.

If it was pot,it would have been the 4rth time he was caught. Most likely it was a steroid used to help him recover quicker from his leg injury.

I'm not dwelling, I'm just frustrated, the last few off seasons we went through different incidents that affected us early in the season.

The only thing I have a problem with is that this will cut into any trade value he has this summer. Other than that, he screwed up...he knows he screwed up...and he's going to make sure it doesn't happen again. I'm satisfied with the response and will let him move on with his life with the benefit of the doubt that he won't do it again.
