Is this the end of Douby's playing time?

The Kings get Bobby Jackson in the trade to Ron Artest. Following this they have 3 PGs. (Udrih, Jackson, Douby) Unless Udrih or Jackson gets hurt; is this the end of Quincy Douby's playing time in SAC for this year? I think it is despite needing experience for the future.

A lot of teams have 3 pgs. B-Jax and Douby will probably play a lot of 2 as well.. now Douby can really learn on how to be the next B-Jax.

I forgot about the signing of Bobby Brown. So now the Kings could have 4 PGs. But realistically they would use Brown mainly at the SG position.

I think Jackson and Douby will play a lot of SG.

No, I think they will move Douby back to SG, his natural position. They only tried him at PG the last two years because they were so weak at the backup (and the starting PG after Mike got injured before the start of last year). He will get 10-15 minutes behind Martin/Salmons/Garcia, while Greene will get more and more minutes as the season goes on.

Brown is a Point Guard. Douby plays like a SG.
The Depth Chart would be:
Udrih/Jackson/Brown
Martin/Douby (Also Jackson/Salmons/Garcia)
Salmons/Garcia/Greene (Also Thompson)
Thompson/Williams/Moore/SAR/Thomas
Miller/Hawes (Also Moore/Williams)
There are a lot of guys that play a lot of positions. Singletary and Ewing Jr will not be a part of the team on opening night, there are not enough roster spots. Their contracts are not guaranteed, so baring another trade, or a SAR medical retirement, they will have to be waived.
I would not be surprised to see Douby traded, maybe with Miller, but really it means the end of Singletary and Ewing.

Ya i actually think this opens it up for him even.
Salmon/Garcia
Martin/Douby
Unless he is traded away, but will see our rotation turns out to be after camp

I think he will be traded away. In whatever trade we may make involving Brad I think he goes along with him. That is what I expect to happen. It's to bad if we do end up trading him.

If we stick to an 8-9 man rotation there may be problems
Beno, Bobby J., Martin, Garcia, Salmons, Moore, Hawes, and Miller will probably be major minute guys at the start of the season. With either Williams or Thompson getting sparse minute treatment backing up the 4.
Where are the minutes for Thompson, Greene, Williams, Douby, etc.??? Hopefully the Maloofs demand to see more young than old out there on the floor.
In a perfect world considering the circumstances:
PG: Beno (35) / Bo-Jax (13)
SG: Martin (35) / Garcia (13)
SF: Salmons (35) / Garcia (13)
PF: Williams* (25) / Thompson (23)
C: Miller (25) / Hawes (23)
*or Thompson starting at the 4.
See the problems we have here. That is pretty much all the available minutes and there is clearly no room for Douby, Greene, Brown, etc. and I excluded Moore when in reality it's most likely Thompson or Williams being excluded. Moore certainly needs to go and probably Miller too if we intend to even play both Thompson and Williams AT ALL.

Douby has to get his real opportunity this season. I know the majority of Kings fans have already given up on him, but realistically with all the depth we've had at the guard spots since he's been here he hasn't been given a fair shot yet. Douby is a great shooter and shooters need minutes and shots, he can get to the rim and is a very underrated defender - he's length is ridiculous for a guard and he's quick. If Douby plays at the level he did in the summer league in practice and shows improvement, I wouldn't be surprised to see Douby ahead of Jackson on the depth chart. Bjax is nowhere near what he was and at this point I think Douby is the better player. Jackson was on the radio saying his main role here is to help the young guys, I took it as him hinting he knew there's a chance he wouldn't be in the rotation or just playing spot minutes. Also, Douby will probably be backing up Udrih but playing as a SG on offense with Salmons/Garcia playing PG. I think our main guard rotation should be:
Salmons/Garcia
Martin/Garcia
Udrih/Douby
With Jackson maybe getting a few spot minutes each game.

I commented last night that I think Douby's gone this summer. To hold a firm role on the team he needs to be versatile...he's not. He needed to be able to play a combo guard role, but he is really only an undersized 2-guard. Bobby Brown can fill that role and Jackson specialized in that role his first time with the team. I can't see Douby out competing Garcia and Salmons for minutes backing up the 2 and he should not just be handed minutes because "it's his turn". His best use to the team is as filler in a trade that gets Kenny Thomas off the roster.

I HIGHLY disagree with your assessment here. Douby is just scratchng the surface. The MALOOFS were RAVING about him during summer league in a very sincere, "I'm not trying to pump out trade value diatribe" way. They have high hopes for both Douby and Hawes this summer(which is why BMiller moving out may actually happen). I see douby getting a consistent 15-20 minute gig at SG each night.
PG: Beno - 28, B-Jax/BB - 20
SG: Martin - 32, Douby -16
SF: Salmons - 30, Garcia - 18
Right around there is how I see the minute distribution going.

I would be a lot more excited for next season if Beno Udrih wasn't their starting point guard.

I would hate it if Garcia at 26 years old, after what he proved, in his 4th year, got only 18 minutes.
It's a 3 man wing rotation with the 90+ minutes between these 3, the scraps and injury minutes will go to Douby.

He won't, Douby is doubly screwed this year. Actually, he may be triplely screwed with Bobby Jackson and Bobby Brown now here.

I know Bobby Jackson is a fan favorite here, and I appreciate everything he did for the Kings in that era, but I think he's being overrated here. He's a third string PG at this point. Douby>Jackson and Brown.

What hallucinogens are you taking? He certainly has not done anything to suggest that your statement is even close to being true. And don't give me the rehearsed answer of "he hasn't been
given the opportunity to show what he can do yet". If he really was what you are suggesting he is, he would have easily
earned the opportunity for more minutes last year.

Considering that our starting point guard at the beginning of last season was cut from our team halfway into the year, and our current starting point guard was picked after being cut from the t-wolves, I would say Douby had ALL the time in the world to establish himself as a PG for this team...you don't get a better chance than what he had.

um, what Bobby Jackson do you think we're getting? We're not going to come to an agreement so we'll just have to wait and see what happens. But based on production from last season and taking into account Jackson is a year older and Douby has another summer/offseason of improvement under his belt, I think Douby will be the better player next year. Bjax put up about 8 pts last year to Douby's 5 but Douby played significantly less minutes than Jackson. Efficiency wise they were about the same both at about 40% from the field and 35% from 3 but give me the young player with potential instead of the aging vet.
And as far as Douby should have earned the minutes last year, at the end of the day Douby isn't better than Bibby,Beno,Martin,Garcia,Artest or Salmons so no he didn't deserve minutes over the players in front of him. There wasn't even enough minutes for Salmons and Garcia and at times Beno so there was no way Douby was getting on the court. But over Bobby Jackson and Brown? Im putting my money on Douby and Garcia getting most of the minutes at the guard spots off the bench.

Douby couldn't even get consistent minutes with an injured Bibby AND before Beno was signed. So if Salmons/Garcia/Martin/Beno >>>>> Douby, when do you expect him to play?
