Assuming the roster stays the same (which I doubt), what is your rotation this season?

John Salmons will not be playing the PG anytime soon. I think you should have put Bobby Jackson at the back up PG slot. But other than that I think that you're accurate.

I like to see Thompson in the 20 mins range though. I think Williams will also get 15+ mins at the PF/C position. I say screw Moore. He's a great locker room guy but on the court he doesnt produce much. I want to see Williams get more minutes.

I like this a lot more.

Miller and moore will play closer to 20 than 30. Williams is going to get about 10-15, hawes 20, thompson 10-15, garcia 15-20, Greene 10-15. Our young guys will get some kind of time, and the vets will have to put up with it. Here's my guess.

Garcia won't see a ton of minutes at point, and he will definately play before Greene. Douby will get more minutes than expected and Williams will play more than thompson. This is only for this year, though, as guys will get traded/develop or bust.

I'd like to see shorter rotation than suggested, I would prefer less Moore and More Thmpson, but I don't think that'll happen.

With Douby as 4th wing and Thmpson as 5th big.

Thompson should not be getting minutes ahead of Williams since the team needs to take a long, hard look at Williams this season to decide whether they want to pick up his option. Also, I would have little problem with Thompson getting 10 minutes or less per game. His development should focus on conditioning and working with the coaching staff during practices on technique. He needs to spend his time during games watching carefully how the vets play. Just being thrown into a game so he can "bang bodies with NBA talent" does little to help him improve for the future.

I still really think that with picking up Greene (who answers a size question at the 3) that either John or Francisco is going with Miller in trade to sweeten the deal from our side. Just call it a hunch, but it will help ease up the minutes issue at the swing spots, since with Kevin there is little left at the 2.

Thompson starts at pf. Theus loves this kid, Williams isnt what he was cutout to be, and the kings need to move on and start to actually play their rookies. Same goes for Hawes.

^^Singletary and Ewing are leaving as part of the Artest trade and Thompson is nowhere near ready to start in the NBA.

singletary and ewing were suggested as possibilities of the artest trade, and i'll take thompson over moore or williams any day.

It's good to be optimistic about Thompson's role in the future, but the fact still remains that he is not ready to start in the NBA and will be abused repeatedly by veteran PFs. The Kings have no need to force him into significant minutes, nor is it any benefit to his long-term development to force him into playing starter minutes.

Also, as I stated before, Moore needs minutes to showcase his value as a potential trade piece and Williams needs an opportunity to show what he can do so Petrie can make an informed decision about whether or not to pick up his option for the 09/10 season. Answering the questions surrounding Moore and Williams' futures with the team is far more important long-term than Thompson being forced into a role he's not ready for.

IIRC Thompson has a chance to get that starting position over Moore. I read something like if Thompson impressed the Kings at training camp (Like he improved his rebounding/defense and overall play) he will start over Moore fairly easy. But obviously, Moore is a better defender and rebounder at this point of time.

Moore and Miller will start at the beginning of the year (barring they both stay/not including miller's 5-game pot smoking thing) because they are vets. The kings are a young/growing team, but they are not going to just throw the young guys into the water and hope they float. Kinginexile is right when he says that thompson will sit a lot more than people are expecting. If there is any kind of discrepancy over the starting PF job, it would be between Williams and Moore.

First and foremost I think its a lot to ask rookies to come in and play heavy minutes. I took spencer bout 50 to 60 games before he started seeing a lot of minutes. So I do not expect Thompson or Greene to play much in the first half of the season. I think in the second part we could start seeing them more. Also, I wouldnt be surprised if Douby is moved in the Artest trade. Finally, this all changes if Miller or Moore are moved.
