Big Future

Finally, after years of Kenny Thomas (6'7), Brian Skinner (6'9), Corliss Williamson (6'6), and Shareef Abdur-Rahim (6'9) playing PF/C for us with only Brad Miller at a decent height, we finally have a legitimately sized front court. If our prospects all pan out as expected, then we're going to have one of the biggest front lines in the NBA.

SF: Greene (6'10)
PF: Thompson (6'11)
C: Hawes (7'0)

Mismatch nightmares all around :D . If you compare the size of our frontcourt to other young frontcourts around the NBA, that kind of size is really rare. I think only Portland (Oden @ 7'0, Aldridge @ 6'11, and Outlaw @ 6'9) and the Lakers (Bynum @ 7'1, Gasol @ 7'0, Odom @ 6'10) have that kind of size in the frontcourt for the future. I can't wait to go after teams like Minnesota (C: Jefferson @ 6'10, PF: Love @ 6'9, SF: Brewer @ 6'8) or Atlanta (C: Horford @ 6'9, PF: Smith @ 6'9, SF: Williams @ 6'8), where our frontcourt will look down upon others.

Let the mismatch nightmares begin

Spencer still has a lot of muscle to gain if he wants to really be able to use his height. There's a reason that his FG% is so low despite taking many shots in a post-up position. It's because baby hooks and up and under layups don't work when you can't establish position to be close enough to the basket to convert them.

We would have great height but neither hawes, thompson, or greene are power guys. Hawes rather shoot threes then bang inside. Thompson has shown some toughness but doesn't seem very aggressive. And Greene is a perimeter player. I think that is a very bright front line but we need a guy like shelden in the rotation as well.

every thing you just said is exactly the reasons why they will be a vey difficult mismatch. Hawes shooting 3s: most big men can't defend perimeter. thompson: basically can do it all, so just all around good mismatch. Donte greene: a perimeter player who is 6'10". not only does this allow him to farely easilly shoot over most SFs, but it also allows him the ability to post up on smaller SFs. (once he gets conditioned that is). we have a very bright future.

Yeah. I like the potential mismatches. I think we can run this lineup in short bursts:

PG-Garcia(6'7'')
SG-Martin(6'8'')
SF-Greene(6'10")
PF-Thompson(6'11'')
C-Hawes(7'0")

This lineup could be the tallest lineup in the NBA IMO. They could wreck havoc against teams in a particular situation.

Yeah, see that's what makes our trio of bigs so interesting. They will all be able to take their man out on the perimeter, and all show the start of being able to play inside as well.

Down the line I'd really like to see this lineup for a stretch during games:

PG: Beno
SG: Martin
SF: Garcia
PF: Greene
C: Thompson

That team could run like the Suns, maybe even faster. I was re-watching some summer league games and really didn't appreciate how fast Jason is end to end until now. This guy is F-A-S-T!! I am shocked to be honest, it almost doesn't even make sense. How is he that fast?

Everything excites me about the Kings future except Beno Udrih.

^^ I don't get excited to watch Beno but he is solid and more than adequate for now. I view him as a guy that can run the team until our franchise point guard gets here. I think we get our point guard next year in the draft and then he comes off the bench his rookie year and then he takes over for Beno the year after. At least this is how I imagine things going. Beno is a 2-3 year stop gap pg for us IMO, and I am fine with that.

I just definitely really like all the size we have in general. I think Shelden can definitely be a part of it, too.

I'd like to see Greene and Thompson actually play a game 1st. While I'm on the Spencer Hawes Bandwagon sports is still a what have you done for me lately affair. If he doesn't improve on the promise he showed then we are back at square 1. This team IMO is looking like a typical Petrie team and we need passing bigs in our offense.

Well, yeah, his known label of a chucker does skew people's perspective. But you cannot deny his talent. Which is pretty good to say the least. IMO he needs to mature in the NBA to maximizes his strengths. I think he can do that. As is right now, he is a young immature prospect.

You guys have a very bright future that consists of a stud 2 like Kevin Martin and 2 bigs to build around like Jason Thmopson and Spencer Hawes. GL in the future...!

We really need an elite distribution-oriented PG that can shoot from distance.
