Dejan Bodiroga

Post#1 » by new don » Fri Aug 22, 2008 11:20 pm

When do we bring this guy over and add him to the roster. Looks to me like he's a good shooter and we always could use a shooter. Why wasnt he added to the squad yet? Is it Customs and Immigration issues?

The issue is that he decided to play in Europe after we drafted him because he was going to be able to make more money and have more playing time there. Now that he's 35, there's no chance that he will ever play in the NBA.

He's 35??????? wow that hilarious. But i guess he did whats best for him and probably wasnt that hot up to play in the NBA any way. But when did we draft him? And how old was Garbojosa wen he came into the league.

If i'm not mistaking wasnt Anthony Parker 32 when the raps signed him right from the Euro leauge??

We drafted him in the 2nd round in 1995...the same year we drafted Corliss Williamson and Tyus Edney and the year before we drafted Peja.

As for Parker, he's 2 years younger. But the big difference is that he played 3 seasons in the NBA before going to Europe for 6 years. He may have been 31 when he made his way back into the NBA, but he was a 31 year old NBA veteran...Dejan would be a 35 year old NBA rookie.

That was actually a great steal that was never mentioned because he never came to the NBA, Bodiroga was considered the best player playing in europe back in the day, he had a high IQ, great shooting touch and a winner mentality, I have no idea why he didn't come over, maybe because he had it good in Europe.

He is a god in Europe. He didn't need the NBA I guess. It could have been pretty neat if he was with our team back in that 01-02 season, he could have very well been the difference even with the officiating and everything.

I don't think he would have been the same player in the NBA that he was in Europe due to his lack of athleticism but he is like the Vlade version of a G. Way too crafty to not be a decent NBA player.

He was the best player in Europe for years. One of my favourite players here.

But he retired one year ago after a splendid career.

Yeah, I heard of him. And I seen him play too. Very crafty/high IQ type of player. A big superstar in Europe. I always wonder what is his impact if he came to the NBA to the Kings in the late 90s/early 00s.

No need to bash someone just because they're new to the boards. It sometimes takes new posters a while to get the hang of things...KIE

Sorry to disappoint, but Bodiroga retired from active basketball last year, now he is the GM of Virtus Roma the team that is bringing Jenings over.

They call Bodiroga the Magic of Euroleague. He also led Yugoslavia to the World Championship in Indianapolis.

He was an amazing player, very high Bball IQ, great shooter, and an amazing ballhandler and passer.
He would have probably helped out the Kings a lot during the 2001-2004 campaigns.

Bodiroga was a born winner. It has to do something with genes, because he was a relative of Drazen Petrovic. With him on board, there would be no need for game 6 against the Lakers. :D

He was so popular that a Serbian rock band wrote a humorous song praising him. The title of the song is "Seks, Droga i Bodiroga", which translated means "Sex, Drugs and Bodiroga", like that song "Sex, Drugs and Rock'n'Roll". :)
