Actually, Greg Olden was 62 a couple years ago. I mean, as far as we are concerned, he can be Dwight's grandfather. It's huge the guy can play pro basketball at this stage of his life.

no need for long game thread its only pre-season

Kings notes: Brown could start Friday night
Beno Udrih's strained left hip Wednesday became a left hamstring strain Thursday, with the terminology mattering less than the impact.
The Kings point guard is not expected to play in tonight's exhibition game at Arco Arena against Oklahoma City, meaning rookie point guard Bobby Brown might be looking at yet another carpe diem moment.

i've never really cared much for spencer hawes to be honest, i mean he was starting to come on late last year but you know i've never really been a huge fan, partly because he annoys me with his political statements or whatever lol

but i have to give it to him. its still early in the game but he's beastin out. he took all the criticisms after game one and said f that, he looks real good out there tonight. i respect the hell out of that.

I swear man, Kevin Martin looks even BETTER than last year. He's really created shots for teammates all night long.

Well, it was better than the first game. Yeah, Kevin is really starting to look like he is ready to take that leap up to the next level with a more all around game. The work this guy does on his game just continues to pay off more and more. His handles are light years away from a few years ago. The passing was a little better but guys are still running into and over eachother.

Jason and Donte struggled but both had some big plays on the defensive end. I really would like to see Jason play alongside Spencer more. A lot of Jasons problems came from spacing. He'd drive the ball and there's Shelden or someone else under the basket waiting for the offensive rebound! Haha. Hard to drive when there are 3 guys waiting for you when you get there, one of them being your own teammate who fills the lane by himself.

Spencer really came back strong and showed the kind of talent he does have. Outside/inside, he should be able to play against anyone in time.

Shelden really hitting the boards and playing interior defense. He still may be the best solution vs. biggest need at PF.

Salmons looked far more comfortable and seems to play much better when playing next to Kevin.

Brad really didn't play much, why? Did he re-injure his quad or hamstring or whatever it was?

Bobby Brown had a big, big showing. He looked incredible on offense.

Cisco didn't look good at all, the energy wasn't there all night long.

Mikki looked good, but man, isn't it funny that even in the games he looks good he grabs 2 boards in almost 20 minutes!!! Haha. Still, he's one of the better big man defenders and help defenders in the NBA. His length just causes so many problems out there.

Yeah, the Kings bounced back from the Blazers game. Everyone contributed in some form. Hawes/Brown were GREAT tonight. Martin shows even more promise in his overall game. Salmons bounced back from his disappointing game (Blazers), Sheldon looked solid, Jason/Greene needs the game come to them...They force alot but I liked their defensive intensity. Garcia, well, we just saw the "bad" Garcia today. Which looked ugly. Hopefully, he gets better.

But overall, kinda an ugly win (we blew that 19 point lead) but W is a W I guess...

Everyone should keep in mind that Hawes' bad game was against an Oden/Aldridge frontcourt and good game against OKC's frontcourt(Collison,Wilcox,Petro) and that it wasn't a coincidence. Hawes is going to struggle against players who can physically dominate him. IMO he's at least 2 or 3 years away from being a consistent NBA starter.

Spencer Hawes struggles against bigger and quicker players and it always seems like it's one or the other that he's playing against. I'm not sure I understand the hype that surrounds Spencer Hawes.

He was a bust the day he was drafted and he's an idiot to add. [please do not make political statements-KIE]

Back to basketball though. Spencer Hawes is Troy Murphy/Chris Mihm if Troy Murphy/Chris Mihm never reached their potential. Hawes will forever be lesser than Brad Miller.

Treat him as a solid backup big man with limited offense and no defense. Nothing more than that though or you'll be disappointed.

Kings should be focusing their attention to getting touches to Martin/Thompson.
