Soo....Kings at Jazz

Well....pretty good first half. About as good as we could expect, in fact. Is anybody else out there?

Yeah, a good half for the Kings. We just have to limit the TOs. And Salmons is playing well today.

This may be the worst defensive team the league has ever seen.

I just don't understand. We played a good half but we play horrible in the 2nd half. I just wonder what happens in the locker room. But then again, the Jazz are playing well against our weak defense.

The Wizards w/o Haywood are extremely terrible in defense.

So who's ready to join me on the Fire Theus bandwagon? Anyone?

I guarantee that he'll be fired before Christmas if we play like this again.

I'm sorry, but BRAD MILLER, YOU ARE NOT A THREE POINT SHOOTER. Theus should GRAB Brad by the uniform and slap him in the face everytime he wastes a possession and shoots a three...or bench him.

Oh yeah...guess what Utah is shooting from 3PTs? I'll give you a hint...

Over 55%.

Wow, FT's a BIT in Utah's favor (30 to 8), not that it would have mattered, but talk about Home Court Advantage...

The only way Theus should NOT be fired is if he starts Hawes/Thompson/Salmons/Martin (HOPEFULLY!)/Beno next game...We are a 5-13 team and we continue to start Miller/Moore...terrible.

Hawes/Thompson are playing garbage minutes right now and doing great...start them NOW.

I dunno, the Allas Mavericks since 2000 have been pretty bad and for a LONG stretch of time too.

If this game doesn't show how futile it is to chase the playoffs this year with our crusty old veterans than nothing will. There was a CLEAR gulf in talent between the teams.

Brad Miller has quit on this team. He needs to go NOW before his value tanks further.

Well I think I got my answer on how Garcia and Martin being back effects Jason and the other young guys, and the answer isn't the one I was looking for. Too many guys, Petrie needs to do some tinkering because the only other option is to reduce minutes here or cut guys out there.

This franchise is absolutely rudderless. We're riding the veterans to a 5-13 record. Absolute worst of both worlds, no hope for the future because we're not developing the kids, and no hope for the present because we have no chance to make the playoffs.

+1

Thompson: 23 mins, 8/11 for 16 pts and 5 rebounds
Hawes: 20 mins, 7/13 for 18 pts and 6 rebounds

Why aren't BOTH these players starting? Our frontline of Miller/Moore allowed (when they were in) Okur and Millsap to rebound a combined 23 rebounds...our defense/season can't get any worse, just play

Hawes
Thompson
Greene
Salmons
Beno

until Martin/Garcia get back, then put Salmons at SF and Martin at SG...

Theus needs to GIVE UP on his vets NOW.

If Brad goes to the bench, there's no way we're moving him within the next couple of years. If Mikki goes, we can kiss good-bye the idea of getting anything for him but other expirings.

So we should keep playing our useless vets, keep losing AND not develope the future of the team because...we want to keep their trade value higher? I don't think Miller or Moore will get more than expirings (+ draft pick/prospect for Miller) anyways. Personally, I say we trade Miller ASAP for shorter deal/expiring/1st and keep Moore, but have him come off the bench for 15 minutes a game.

I was real impressed with Hawes. I don't know if he plays like that every night or not, but, if he's got those kinds of moves and touch, you got yourselves a nice center.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Oh, and Theus should have called like 5 more time outs to fits of frothing screaming. I was unimpressed with his lack of fire.

I have my doubts that moving Brad is even a big issue in Petries mind. I doubt the Kings are actually going to try and get under the cap for '09 so the only thing we'll get out him "value" wise is when he expires. Our problem isn't playing Brad, it's playing Mikki 20-25 minutes per game AND Brad on top of it. I really like Mikki Moore, hell in some ways I wish we were better because I think he'd be a great piece if we were contending, but the timing just isn't there obviously. If we simply ran a big man rotation of Thompson/Hawes/Miller everything would be OK.

The vets I can understand playing enough to maintain value are Salmons and Miller. Mikki? Not so much. He is what he is, there's nothing to maintain, never was. The only way we move him is if we take a longer contract back most likely. I see us either buying him out next year, trading him to simply make room, or as a salary filler if we move Salmons. Pretty soon the "playing our vets to maintain their value" thing is only going to further hurt the progression of youth and individual development moving forward.
