Kings to Retire Vlade's and Webber's Jerseys

Remembering the good times ...
Sometime within the next few weeks, the Kings will announce plans to retire the jerseys of Vlade Divac and Chris Webber during games later this season. The retirement date for Divac appears set: March 31, during pregame festivities when the New Orleans Hornets and fellow Serbia native Peja Stojakovic visit.
The date for Webber's ceremony still is being discussed. The Kings are working to accommodate their former power forward and his business obligations, including his duties as a TNT analyst. The best guess here is sometime in February or early March. Webber, who was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers when the Kings began dismantling the aging, injury-riddled team that was wildly entertaining during the early part of the decade, played briefly for the Detroit Pistons before ending his career last year with his original team, the Golden State Warriors.

Oh that's awesome and very well deserved. I would think those will probably be the only two to get their jerseys retired from those teams, but I'm very glad that both are.

YES. I'm very happy to hear this, both deserve their jerseys retired here in Sac.
I hope Arco sells out for both of them, they both deserve to have their jerseys retired in front of a huge crowd.

Good decision. I think they should have spread it over more than one season but it's certainly cool.

I wonder if we'll have won a home game by the time we retire their jerseys?

I'm kind of shocked there was a delay with Vlade's since he's been out of the league for a while, but this isn't a surprise at all. Personally I don't think Vlade's number should be retired. He had his best years as a Laker, and the Lakers aren't retiring his number.

Yeah, they both deserved it IMO. This move shows how much the Kings organization respected the two players.

Congratulations Webber and Vlade. They were the greatest team in Sacramento King history. Bibby will be joining them in a few years.

The Kings are going to retire number #4 and #21 to honor two of its legends, Chris Webber and Vlade Divac, respectively.
Personally I believe it's a great move, this team would have never been where it was if it wasn't for these two.

I feel they both deserve it and I appreciate everything they did for the Kings but I cant help to think the reasoning behind this is more to do with selling tickets. Regardless im happy for both of them and i will be at both games.

I bought courtside seats to this game when I heard the news. I had to be there. Definitely once in a lifetime. I'm sure it'll be sad.
I'm a Warrior fan, but Chris Webber has always been my favorite player. A lot of kids were attracted to the sport of basketball through Michael Jordan. I became a fan of the game by watching Chris Webber and Hakeem Olajuwon.
It was one of the greatest things for me to see him play for us last year even on one leg. I'll be down there at Arco wearing his rookie jersey.

This forum symbolizes Arco Arena. A few hardcore fans still at it, fans like me of other teams, and a bunch of empty seats.
I gotta respect the hardcore fans who were there before the cow bells and glory and are still backing their struggling Kings.
