Larry seems to be back to his old self of playing well and would provide the scoring punch they need at SG which Nick Young is not getting it done. Potential Wiz can have a core of Hughes, Arenas, Butler, and Jamison getting hot and in a groove heading into the playoffs. Potential development of Mcgee and Blatche can make them very tuff. Hughes can win them games in the time being which Thomas and Daniels can not.

Kings make this deal for the plain talent upgrade that it is and I think Sac Town would approve due to the fact that their were talks initiated by Sac Town earlier this season for Noce and they were talking Brad Miller at the time. Noce BTW makes PT room for Thompson next to Hawes and Garcia can play super 6th man backing up Noce and KMart at the SG/SF positions.

Outside of Kaman these are all 2010 friendly contracts. The Kaman addition is still friendly to a 2010 plan because a LEGIT CENTER is what Amare and Bosh would want to play along side as a POWER Forward. As for this season and next.... Daniels serves as a decent backup PG to Rose (better then Hunter) and he can play spot minutes at SG. Kenny Thomas and E. Thomas are nothing but serviceable bodies whose contracts expire 2010 and provide depth until then.

I understand the last part... getting Noce is the opposite of what you want.

But your first part was get rid of K.Thomas.

As for 2010 Is Sac. going to be a player. I know money talks but who do you think is coming?
It seems to me Sac's best course of action is developing their own players and being able to trade for a disgruntle player who might be able to put them over the top in a couple of years. Kinda like what Detroit did with Sheed or what Sac tried a few years back with Artest.

In conclusion if your not players in 2010 why not take a free 1st round pick and an obvious upgrade in talent this season with Noce.

2010 is our goal year for cap space. It doesn't mean we'll sign Lebron, but we'll try to sign a lot of people, and if that doesn't happen, we'll still have plenty of cap flexibility otherwise.

Because in reality in 2010 nobody REALLY knows WHAT the landscape is going to look like.

In the big market teams' ideal world (i.e. - Knicks, Boston, Chicago), and the current homes of the potential superstar FA's (Cleveland, Miami), nobody is a player but them.

But here's how I look at it from our perspective.

We already have a nice young core that will have two more years of NBA PT under their belts at that point.

We have a player in Martin who - although maybe not a true #1 guy, is obviously an easy call as an All-Star caliber #2 next to a top caliber player.

We will most likely have a top 5 draft pick next year (with several potential franchise point guards slated to be available) AND a second first rounder in the later first that can bring a nice specialty player (can we say a short minutes defense beast?). That does not include the fact that we may yet acquire one or more additional firsts in trade before the deadline.

To top that off, there is the fact that we will have enough money available to max out not just one "A" level FA, but TWO!!! Remember when McGrady and Hill both signed with the Magic? If Hill had remained healthy and the player he was for Detroit, the chances are that Orlando would have been the next incarnation of the Jordan/Pippen Bulls.

Add to all this the fact that the NBA is now working to get us a brand new arena that would be opening, oh sometime in 2010-2012...

So you have all the highly attractive ingredients in place to attract:

1) One or more level "A" FA's who want not just the money, but the ring(s) as well, and

2) An "A" level head coach to get it all to gel.

I like where we sit, and I am perfectly happy if we make NO moves between now and July 1, 2010!

I guess like you said being a Big city person myself and fan of one of those teams I am being bias to assume Sac will not be a major player, but you never know unless you make the moves to give yourself a chance right?

It's not like getting Noce makes you favorites for anything this season anyway.

I just assumed Sac would be one of those teams upgrading their r by trading away their expiring's in lopsided trades.

From a Talent stand point alone.

I'm not arguing that at all.

But for us, tying our cap up with another role player is really useless at this point (and the draft pick - even with the lure of being unprotected - is not that attractive) and would merely serve to rob more time from our developing bigs and swingmen.

No, I have said in many posts before that at this point unless it is a knock your socks off type of deal (i.e. - something like the Lakers picking up Pau last year for two bags of chips and three warm bodies), we just should stand pat and wait for 2010.

Sac. Trades: Brad Miller and S. Williams

Watson, Gooden, and Noah are all 2010 friendly. Would that work from your end?

Actually, that is just the kind of deal that I would say is worth doing, although we would have to swing Watson on so that we do not get bogged down with four b/u caliber guys at the point (we already have BJax as a steady b/u and BBrown to develop).

Essentially that gives us a solid option at the 4 for now with Spencer moving to his natural 5 and Thompson being allowed to come along at a natural pace. Additionally we then have Noah as our big minutes b/u 5/4 who we will re-sign and keep in 2010 while the others expire along with the KT/SAR money to keep us over 20 free in 2010 to either trade or outright sign one or two impact FA's.

Sign me up!

Honestly I think the guy Petrie is after may be Gilbert Arenas. Think about it though. Washington stinks right now and if he (Gil) comes back healthy, and they still stink I don't think they need a $100m man so I can see next year this happening if the above conditions are met.

why on earth would the either team do this deal? Gil is the prototypical PG Petrie likes. Gil can light it up on a good day. Furthermore this frees Cisco to play that Doug Christie role at the 2. Donte/Salmons at the 3. JT/Hawes at the 4/5. Gil is 26 right now, and that's the only negative (we're assuming good health, remember)

Personally I don't like it all that much and I think Gil is like a woman scorned with the Kings after a draft day promise left unfulfilled that went to Gerald Wallace.

I also remember hearing that Geoff went after Gilbert. It wouldn't be the worst idea, if he'd be willing to come.

I'm one that would be willing to part with K-Mart for the right deal, but I don't see that deal being for Gilbert Arenas. I really can't see him being the 'PIECE' to take us to the promised land. He's definitely a great player and causes match-up nightmares, but I just don't think he's worth losing Martin over.

I'd much rather pay Martin 55 mil then pay Gilbert 100 mil.

If we are going after Gilbert. I much rather draft Stephen Curry than trading Martin for Gilbert IMO.

I respect the player that Arenas is and the fact that he had to and did prove himself from the second round, but I get really scared by the injury factor (especially since he is pretty young) and I do not think that the cost difference between him and Martin is 45 million worth when you are also giving up 12 million of your expiring money in Miller with no return essentially for his skills as a big.
