Sac/Cha/Phi/Tor

Post#1 » by xxSnEaKyPxx » Sun Dec 21, 2008 10:03 pm

I didn't see a thread for trades, if I missed it, please move this.

I was just playing around with trade checker to see what I could come up with. This trade is just for fun to help see the value players have around the league. I think a lot of the players involved fit their new teams plan, but usually when you trade a lot of big names, people don't like it. So, I don't expect many people to like this trade, but I'd like to see what people think.

76ers Trade: Andre Iguodala, Donyell Marshall, and Marreese Speights
76ers Get: Kevin Martin, 2nd Round Pick(Tor), and Shannon Brown

Bobcats Trade: Gerald Wallace, Raymond Felton, Adam Morrison, and Shannon Brown
Bobcats Get: Brad Miller, Marreese Speights, Donte Greene, and Bobby Jackson

Raptors Trade: Andrea Bargnani and 2nd Round Pick
Raptors Get: John Salmons and Donyell Marshall

Kings Trade: Brad Miller, John Salmons, Kevin Martin, Dontre Greene, and Bobby Jackson
Kings Get: Gerald Wallace, Andre Iguodala, Raymond Felton, Andrea Bargnani, and Adam Morrison

Why for 76ers? They get the SG they need to spread the floor and help score. They can move Young to his natural position of SF and let him blossom.
Miller/Martin/Young/Brand/Dalembert
Brown/Williams/Green/Evans/Ratliff

Why for Bobcats? They get the Center they need to pair next to Okafor, and some nice younger pieces to build around.
Augustin/Bell/Diaw/Okafor/Miller
Jackson/Carroll/Greene/Speights/Ajinca

Why for Raptors? They get the wing they need and a PF to help spread the floor.
Calderon/Parker/Salmons/Bosh/O'Neal
Ukic/Kapono/Moon/Marshall/Voskuhl

Why for Kings? Martin is never going to be the franchise player they need, the only thing he can do is score. This trade bulks up their defense, gives them youth, and the players they need to put around Thompson and Hawes. It also gives them a complete starting lineup.

As I said on the trade board, I don't think the Kings even consider moving Kevin Martin unless they're getting a clear franchise player in return which isn't happening here.

Also, don't Wallace and Iggy both play the same position?

Bargs = poor man's Miller
Iggy and Wallace = redundant, they both play SF so you have no SG, and Wallace is hurt too much
Felton and Morrison = JUNK

All in all we give up all of our 2010 capspace and take on lesser caliber players to boot? No thanks!

I don't like it. Kings trade our best player and we get 4 small forwards and a small PG. This sets us back IMO. Gerald is the best rebounder of the bunch and we don't clearly improve anywhere. This would be a disaster. We want our youngs to play big minutes, but not the entire game...this leaves us without an actual SG as well. Even JT has played the 3 this year which would give us 6 guys who can play the 3 and 1 who can play the 5 effectively. Also, any BIG trade should alleviate us of at least KT, Beno, or Mikki. Instead we are left holding the SF bag. I'm gonna say pass on this one.

No. Wallace and Iggy aren't number 1 options either, which is your reasoning for moving Martin. We aren't certain Hawes/Thompson will be number 1 option, we aren't even sure whether or not Thompson is capable of starting on a quality team. They have potential, but both have done nothing so far to merit building a team around them.

Trade board is good enough for a thread like this.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.
