Change of Spirit, Games do Matter...Kings @ Nets

Post#1 » by KingInExile » Mon Jan 5, 2009 11:35 pm

With the team's lackluster performance lately, along with several early starts due to the east coast road trip, it has become apparent that many are not paying attention to games...apparent because nobody is consistently posting game threads. Well, I am proclaiming now that GAMES DO MATTER! :D

After finishing the last 2 games with a legitimate shot at a W, the Kings arguably have a good shot of taking this game against the Nets. Martin has been bringing the scoring that we've been missing (wish he could figure out how to be a consistent clutch scorer, though). Unfortunately Spencer is still out with no word on when he will return. My predication: Kings 105, Nets 100.

Bee Pre-game report.
Kings (8-26) at Nets (16-18)

Scoring: Kings 21st (96.4), Nets 12th (99.4).
Shooting: Kings tied for 19th (44.4 percent), Nets tied for 26th (43.7).
Scoring defense: Kings 28th (105.6), Nets 23rd (102).
Shooting defense: Kings 28th (47.6 percent), Nets 23rd (46.3).
Rebound differential: Kings 27th (minus-3.1), Nets 13th (plus-0.5).

The links: Nets coverage in the Newark Star-Ledger, New York Post, New York Daily News and New York Times.
The almanac: On this date in 1962, Wilt Chamberlain of the Philadelphia Warriors began a streak of 47 consecutive games of playing all 48 minutes, a record. On this date in 1988, Pete Maravich died at the age of 40 after suffering a heart attack while playing in a pick-up game. On this date in 2001, Tim Thomas of the Bucks made eight three-pointers in the second half, breaking the record of seven three-pointers in one half shared by 10 players.

KT is doing quite good actually. I really dont mind seeing him out there instead of Moore eiher. At least he doesnt fumble the ball every time.

Martin is also on fire too.

Well, the Kings went from 5 down to 7 up in the span that KT has been on the floor. In 7 minutes he's contributed only 2 points...but also (more importantly) has grabbed 4 boards, had 2 steals and 1 block. He may not be an offensive weapon, but he has been a huge boost on defense.

Kings worst rebuilding team EVER for even having the option?

Good to see Kenny out there though. I still contend he is the best PF we currently have on the roster.

Call me batty...but I kinda like the duo of KT and JT in the front court. They bring a lot of energy and aggressiveness to the floor...something we don't see enough of.
