I am just wondering if you guys would do this in the first place, or if charoltte would even consider.

Thompson, Brown for Augustine.

If we did this, it would fill our PG void for the future and allow us to get griffin, monroe, take your pick...

Augustine/Beno
Martin/Garcia
Salmons/Greene
Griffin/Williams?
Hawes/Williams?

If we could get a backup big with energy off the bench for miller or salmons and we could draft a SF with a pick that we have.

I like Thompson, I want to keep Thompson, Thompson has C-Webb potential IMO.

Thompson is more valuable than Augustine IMO.

I am suprised to see anyone on the kings board even talking about trading J.Thompson the guy is a stud player though he has alot of growing still to do.
Augustine is a midget we dont need ! If the Bobcats didnt believe Augustine was there pg of the future the wouldnt have drafted him knowing they already had Felton !
As for Felton he isnt great but he is better the Augustine !

Anyways for anyone to discuss us trading J.thompson or Spencer is crazy unless they are talking about the Kings getting a young superstar who is better in the deal or a Rookie that is better in wich there are not more than 6 or 7 at best this year that can be put in the same breath as Thompson !

Yeah, I wouldn't trade Thompson for Augustine. Thompson can be special. But I think you guys are selling Augustine a bit short though. Augustine IMO will be a pretty damn good PG in the NBA in the near future. He is only 21 yrs old.

Age,Ballhandling skills etc. isnt Augy's issue size is his problem there are only a very select few his size that have done anything in the leauge long term.

Mark my words Augy will be lucky in 5 years if he is a starter in this leauge IMO he would always be best utilized as a backup !

i went to texas so i am a big fan of augutine, but no way do we trade the future cornerstone of the franchise. augustine wasn't a great closer, but he will probably be better than tj ford just because he has no injuries. i think we wait on jeff teague the lottery has a lot of quality PGs and we won't have to give away our best player.

Yeah, size can be a large issue. He is like, what? 5'11''-6'0''? But I don't think it would be that big of an issue if and only if he can be a great shooter/playmaker at the same time.... iirc he averaged close to 20 points and 7ish assists when he started for the Bobcats. That is pretty good for a rookie.

Wow, I don't know if I would go that far but he certainly does have talent. I wouldn't do the trade myself, keep Jason, Spencer, and Martin on this team at just about all costs. Garcia and Greene are somewhere close to there too IMO. They are pieces of a foundation that can be successful one day.

Unless it's a no brainer trade for the Kings......

Interesting. Well I'm glad to know that everyone has such high hopes for thompson. I really like the guy as well. The inspiration for this thread came from watching griffin play, which was truly amazing. I think he would be better than thompson compared to any of the PG's in this draft. Mainly it came from just really liking what I saw with griffin.

I love Augustin, but at this point, no.

Thompson isn't the next CWebb but he's a perfect PF in our situtation.

Well it's different if we absolutely HAVE Griffin. Then maybe this trade makes sense at that point, but you don't count your chickens before they hatch. What if we traded Thompson and both Griffin and Monroe weren't available? At that point you'd have to reach for someone like Pat Patterson just to fill a need even if there are far better players available.

I am going out on a limb here (a very short one, I believe) and I will say that in 2-3 years that Thompson will be roughly equal talent and probably slightly better skill-wise than Al Jefferson. People need to remember that he grew late and started out as a point guard before and as he grew so the passing and open floor skills that make him able to slide to the 3 spot as a seven-footer will only get better as his post game also improves. He is already, as a rookie, easily our most skilled and capable rebounder and he already is showing a knack for timing for shot-blocking. He needs to get known better by the refs and get through the rookie campaign so he stops getting plagued with fouls, but I see him dominating the NBA post for a good decade.

^Wow, it takes a pair to go out on that limb. I sure hope you're right, but I don't think that he will ever be that great. After more thought, I wouldn't do this trade though. I would rather trade up and get one from the 5-10 range.

This is terrible logic IMO. If you're walking down the street with an envelope with $100 in it, you don't drop it when you see one with $25 in it just because you think there may also be another envelope with $105 in it just down the street. You keep the envelope you got and enjoy the $100! And as a bonus, if you DO happen to find that other envelope that MAY be down the road, they you have 2 envelopes with a combined $205!

In other words, you never give up a guy with talent and serious potential just because you think there is a chance you might get someone slightly better in a few months. Just as soon as you put all of your money on the Kings winning the lottery, fate will kick you in your ass and we'll be stuck with maybe a #5 pick.

^I should have specified, this was barring the kings getting the first pick. I'm sorry for not stating that, I was sure that I did.

This was based off of the kings getting the first pick. In no way would I trade thompson not knowing what was going to happen, that would be (Please Use More Appropriate Word). I have changed my tune though, I think thompson should be paired with Hou pick or one we get from trading miller/salmons to move up and draft one this year. (Curry, Teague, Holiday, ect...)
