These rumors are really starting to confirm my thoughts that Denver can put the most competitive package on the table for Salmons. Petro and Kleiza are expiring contracts. Hunter has one more year but from what I hear has a career ending injury (insurance should cover it). Plus the Nuggets got the high 2nd rounder from OKC and a future first from the Cats that will definiately turn into a lotto pick.
I like my prospects the same way I like my women... foreign- pickIBL

We would only have like $43 million in contracts next year with a salary cap at about $60 mil leaving us $17mil. We could break into pieces for depth like sign a big SF like Kleiza for $4 -6 mil or a vet guy like Hedo for $8mil. I think we should resign Shelden for $4mil a bargain for a guy who can come of the bench and defend and put up Hawes like stats off the bench. Or put all the money into one star player.

You won't get Hedo for 8 mil. You'll have to outbid Orlando to get him, and 8 mil won't be enough. That'd be a bargain in the eyes of the Magic's FO. The Kings (or any team who's not the Magic) would likely have to offer Hedo the max to have a chance of getting him out of Orlando.
Anyway, as for the Blazer/Kings trade, I'm intrigued by it. If all Portland is giving up is Raef and some picks, then I'm down for the deal. Shavlik Randolph will likely have to be involved in some way. Portland has a full roster and with Raef equaling the combined amount of Salmons and Moore, the Blazers can't add anyone who makes over 2 million dollars (roughly). Even adding in someone like Frye or Diogu would mean the Kings have to add in another player, and I don't think they would want to make the deal that big. So Randolph would either have to be going to Sacramento, or he would have to be bought out before the trade is finalized.

Just say no to the Portland deal. I don't see the incentive in doing that deal. Moore is basically an expiring and Salmons is only making the MLE. So if we were $17 million under the cap after these trades the OP posted then we could buy out Moore and keep Salmons and still be 10-12 million under. No rreason to trade a valueable trading piece in Salmons for a late #1 when we already have 2 #1 picks. Oh and I like Garcia in the 6th man role and I think he will stay there so we really don't have anyone to replace Salmons since Greene is not ready.
As far as the Miami deal goes I don't know what Bank's contract is like but if it is bad then forget it. If Bank's deal is not bad then I guess I'd do it, whatever.

Well, then you're in luck since he wouldn't even suit up for the Kings. He's injured for the entire season, the Kings might even just tell him to stay home and collect his checks.

Bank's contract last until 2011, when he will be paid something like 4.7 million. Any contract that lasts in 2011 that is not part of the future = bad for the Kings.

Marrion, fine. Bank's contract? We want two backup PGs at ridiculous salaries?
Blazers deal, I'd want more. GIVE US BATUM. Or somethin.

Miller/Moore for Marion
Salmons/Thomas for Lafrentz/1st/Sergio
I like that a lot.
Tell Riles to shove his Banks demands down his female parts.

LOL. You're severely overrating the Blazers interest in Salmons if you think they're going to give up a young prospect they're as high on as Batum.
The way I see it, there's only about 5 assets the Blazers are willing to give up to get Salmons...
Raef
Frye
Diogu
Randolph
Blazers 1st Round Pick (likely with lotto protection on it)
Mix and match as you want, but anything beyond that is gonna be met with a dial tone on the other end.

Re: 2 HUGE KINGS TRADES MAY GO DOWN VERY SOON LIKELY TRUE !
What about just shuffling things in the two trades around?
Salmons and Kenny for LaFrentz (/Randolph) and a heavily protected 1st, then Moore and Miller for Marion, if we want to clear cap space so badly.
Udrih\Brown
Martin\Jackson\Douby
Marion\Garcia
Thompson\Greene\Randolph
Hawes\S. Williams
We'd only have about $35-36million on the books next year (including our picks). Although something I might prefer would be substituting in Shelden for Mikki in the Miami trade. The only reason I wouldn't is because of the $2million guaranteed for Mikki next year. But I definitely like his veteran presence. Otherwise, after all of these deals, B-Jax would really be our only vet left.

I was going to post exactly the same proposals. This plan works for me.

If the Kings are going to trade either one of these players (Miller or Salmons), (well definitely Salmons & probably Miller), then they should be able to get at least 1 player that fits into their long term plans, and I'm not seeing any of that with these trades.

I'm sorry, but I have to go back to the Bibby and Webber trades to say that history doesn't support your theory. You can even throw in Peja to this conversation. 3 core players from a championship caliber team, all 3 traded away and how many "long term" players did the Kings come away with? 1 in Donte Greene and a few picks maybe? History has shown that Petrie isn't afraid to make a deal that is purely about putting the team on more solid financial ground.
Sometimes I think a lot of posters here at RealGM look to heavily at the talent side of trades and not about how how important the financial future of a franchise is.
Honestly, I could care less if the Salmons trade goes through or not. He's a solid player and probably an OK fit in Portland, but its far from a deal that'll make or break the Blazers. So I'm not trying to say you should or shouldn't do it, but I do think you have to look at a trade from more than just a talent standpoint.

Re: 2 HUGE KINGS TRADES MAY GO DOWN VERY SOON LIKELY TRUE !
I'm pretty sure it'd be Thomas going to the Blazers if they get Salmons for that package. Maybe not, Mikki has a trade kicker and teams might not want to pay it.
To be honest, I'd do both deals. Might even do the Miami one where we take on Banks since the initial payoff is so good. It's not like Banks has a huge deal anyway and he may actually have a chance to play here with the PG position still somewhat up in the air.
With that said, this is Petrie, these deals aren't going down because they were leaked.

That could be argued the other way however since the Kings were stuck with Kenny Thomas' deal 3 years after Webber was to have expired. I think it was simply more about getting him out of town and getting stop gap players that could be solid fill ins, and Kenny was indeed that for awhile.
The difference here is the Kings have no real incentive to move Salmons based on salary reasons alone since his contract is relatively small, now since it's Raef's deal coming back I can see the point since it's going to save the Kings like 12 million dollars this year. That's probably the first deal that saves them money that they've done.
