Basically...he and Kevin Martin are the only reason why I even care about the Kings anymore...

Don't forget Kenny Thomas.

JT played very well and could have easily gone for 21 had he not given up some freebies to get Hawes scoring after struggling most of the game. JT is a really smart team player. I love the guy. I can't believe they don't play Shelden more he came in last night in the 4th quarter a guy tried to dunk on him and ended up on the floor. Earlier Jerry had talked about all game being a dunkfest for the Bulls. We need some center play like him who can score and play defense but they have already committed to Hawes. I am hoping JT will average 20/10 in the second half.

At the start of the season he was rushing things and looked like a struggling rookie at times. i don't know if it's shareef helping him out but offensively he is looking a lot better. There is no doubt in my mind he will be a 20 10 guy some day. Like skaterdude wrote him and kevin have been the only reason to be interested this year. Other then the anticipation of trading miller or thomas.

Hopefully he and Spencer Hawes can develop into a good-young 1-2 punch like Vlade and C-Webb. Along with Martin the Kings have a some young talent for the future that (if developed) could make us contenders (again).

Numbers don't say everything. He still has a lot to learn on defense and he has to figure out how to truly use his advantage in size to rebound. I think he will do great things, but I wouldn't say he's God just yet.

^I've come to the conclusion that you are a closet Jason Thompson hater.

Wow. I would have to agree, Jason shows a ton of promise but he has a long way to go before he can be anointed the "next C-Webb".

To be honest, I kinda see a little C-Webb in him but not as much people proclaim. I see him of a more Rasheed Wallace/David West type of player, really. LeMarcus Aldridge physique/body build.

I thought the title of the thread was a bit premature. I think Jason has shown potential, but I think the title should read Jason can be a beast.
Just to put it into perspective I think this is the 1st year Okafur has looked like he will fufill his potential. I think we saw D. Howard's last year. Carlos Boozer is another guy who has been in the league for a while and is starting to show some promise.
So IMO it takes a LONG TIME for bigs to fill their potential. I don't think Thompson (or Hawes) are close to theirs. How long will it take? I'd say four years before they are looking beast like.
In the meantime....

Starting to show some promise? If I'm not mistaken he's a multiple-time all-star.
But the sentiment is true. It certainly does take a while for bigs to reach their potential, although I think Jason is closer to his than Spencer (and he should be--he's 2 years older).

Touche!
I don't think Boozer is at him max potential for what it's worth.

I think the Kings should stand pat with their core of Martin/Thompson/Hawes. Add a PG and we're good to go.

^^^PG, another SF (odom?) and depth especially in the frontcourt.
