Monta Ellis wants out:

I know trade deadline has passed but, what would we give up for him this offseason?
IMO I would offer JT- They wanted him and even more so now/ Houston pick/ K9? Especially if we win the lottery and get Griffin.

I would give up the toilet paper I used this morning in exchange for him. Outside of that, I'm not all that interested.

I'd give up anything not named Martin/JT (why in the WORLD would we trade him for Monte?)/Hawes/our pick. And maybe Greene.

I think it depends on what pick we get in the draft.
If the first pick: draft Griffin, Trade JT/HOU/K9 for Monta
pg. Ellis
sg. Martin
sf. Nocioni
pf. Griffin
c. Hawes
With the second pick: Draft Rubio, trade rubio and Beno to GSW for Monta and GSW 1st pick (5-8)
pg. Ellis/ Teague or Jennings
sg. Martin
sf. Garcia/
pf. Thompson/ Blair
c. Hawes
With a 3-4 pick: Draft Thabeet, trade Spencer/Hou/K9 for Monta
pg. Ellis
sg. Martin
sf. Nocioni
pf. Thompson
c. Thabeet

He takes away more than what he gives and at times his negatives outweigh his positives, like the fact he's a defensive liability against any physical team and he's a very selfish player too, Ellis doesn't have a low basketball IQ, he has a low IQ in general, Blame the nation's worst school system down in Mississippi where he grew up....

I would say no to any of those deals.

I just don't understand that. I see a young player, who was a all star before injury, who likely will surpass that level soon. I don't understand why people jump off players so fast (especially young players). I think this is a great buy low opportunity for Ellis. He is the kind of player that we need, and would be wrong to pass up.

hmmmm...not to sure. I like Monta, but not sure he's what we need.
Honestly, I guess it depends on what kind of team petrie wants to build. I'd much rather have a tough point guard who is tough, makes plays for his teamates and a good all around defender. Much in the mold of Billups.
We can get all the scoring weopons we want, but if we don't get better at rebounding & just about every aspect of defense, were not going to be a elite team.
Teague strikes me as a player who could be tough and play tough defense. But this is just from what I've read about him, never actually seen him play, so I could be totally wrong.
And....if we keep McCants next year, I don't think we need Monta. McCants can be our weopon off the bench and he as already shown willingness to play defense.

And is Monta Ellis a scoring guard or a game winning guard? We have already committed to a scoring guard who can't win games not to name names but rhymes with JMart. I will have to research Monta they won't give up JT.

There are a lot of questions. Monta is directly responsible for the Warriors not signing BD and Elton Brand they were out partying when he wrecked his motorcycle an the other guys ran for the hills since they didn't want to lose money for doing stuff against their contracts so the reason they suck is mostly his fault. Do the Warriors even want to trade this guy or they just going to let him complain while they have to tank now to get a descent big guy? He has similar stats to Bibby and I never watched Bibby in Vancouver so I don't know how clutch he was at a young age he didn't get into the playoffs until he came to the Kings at 24ish. I haven't watched his games I just remember watching Deron Williams take control of all the games against us this year without Boozer and winning. Do we want a guy like that in Teague or does Monta got clutch in him or will he be more like Arenas or KMart who can't hit big shots? I would think Petrie will study the guy. We do have Kenny $8.5mil that can be traded as an expiring in the summer. My guess is we may have enough to get to trade KT/maybe 2010 # 1/maybe even McCants if we resign him for $3mil for them to unload Monta's 4 years left on his $10mil deal to get the Warriors long term space. Then trade KMart or Monta for a Gooden like big guy who isn't injury prone. We have a lot of options after this year Petrie getting rid of Miller was brilliant we get a high draft pick and will be stacked with good bargaining chips and some financial flexibility.

Man the past 2 weeks have been so slow with thge Kings playing so little. Did anyone see the rumor about the Kings being interested in Phil Weber DAntoni's lead assitant from Phoenix and NY?

As usual, long flawed argument.
1. No Monta didn't run Baron Davis out of town. Thats just completely wrong. Baron left, because Baron wanted to leave.
2. Elton Brand got more money from Philly, thats why he signed there. Ellis didn't egg his house or anything like that. All about money.
3. The bibby comparison makes no sense.
4. Kevin Martin has trouble hitting clutch shots when he is double teamed late. Ellis would be the second scoring threat this team needs.
5. i would not want to give up our #1 in 2010, probably another top 5 pick.
6. Did you really say trade Ellis or Martin for a Gooden type player? Are you Gooden4life or something? Thats just plain dumb.
8. I do agree we have good bargaining chips, but still think we over value those chips, and will never get what we think we should for them. This is because we have players that are sub-mediocre starting (Beno/Garcia) that are more valuable to us than other teams.
Get of K-Marts back. He does what he can. It is hard to do what he does when he is the focus of the opposing defense. If there is 10 seconds left in the game, the opposing team sends 3 guys Martins way, and you still want him to make the shot? Get real. He needs a sidekick, and Monta is that.

Monta has never been an All Star and never will be considering his competition at the guard spot. He played in the rookie/sophomore game his rookie season...that's it. He's no more an All Star than Martin...and Martin would deserve an All Star bid ahead of Monta.
The guy is talented combo guard...and he's also an idiot. Lying to your team's management about an offseason injury that was caused by him doing something that violated his contract is the best way to kill your value in the league. Add to that his over-priced $11M/yr salary that runs until 2014 and you have a talented kid with less value than Starbury. As I said earlier, I would give up some used toilet paper for him (that's close to his current value)...but I would still be left wondering if I were overpaying.

Sorry- All star caliber. And I do think Martin is allstar caliber too. Both would get consideration with a winning team. And I personally like his contract. Locked up young guy is what we need. I take his contract over Garcia/Beno/Nocioni. Those are long contracts for old players.
Used toilet paper is what we got in Garcia/Beno/Nocioni. Monta will not be over the hill in 2014 either. Marbury is over the hill. I just don't get that mentality. I would rather invest alot in one budding star than 3 old never beens.

We are NOT giving up JT, Martin, Hawes, or our pick for Monta. Plain and simple.

I think you have some valid points, but I also think you take it a bit too far. A lot of the negative things you say about his character may be true to an extent, but what if we had used that as an excuse to not trade for Chris? Granted Ellis will never be on Chris's level as an over all talent, but I think the point stands.
I don't know exactly what deal I would do, but if we can buy relatively low for him, unless there is a PG in the draft who Geoff really likes, I think we've got to pull the trigger.

Webber did stupid things but he wasn't an idiot. Monta does stupid things AND he's an idiot. Add to the fact that Webber is immeasurably better than Monta and I think your point mitch has little to stand on. It's not even known if Monta can fully come back from his injury and so far, it's not looking good.

I never said we shouldn't go after Monta I just said we need a clutch guy. Everyone knows Deron Williams is going to take the last shot for the Jazz or CP3 and they still makes it routinely. Where is KMart? Clanging the iron in the clutch even if he has a "partner" like he did by the way in Salmons but I didn't remember many wins the first half either. Martin like Peja/Miller/CWebb can carry you during the game but you need a Bibby to take the win. My question is Monta that guy? I have not seen enough of him to judge him. I would imagine Petrie would get some film on him and judge whether he has potential to fill that clutch void.
I don't mind arguing points but if you continue to criticise the editing of my post I will just ignore you. I have a job, a wife, a mortgage, 2 kids with a 3rd on the way. I have better things to do than worry about editing a post.

Honestly, Ellis makes no appeal to me on the Kings. I don't think he's a good fit, and he's severely overpaid with the injury risk that going to hamper and linger throughout the rest of his career. Honestly, the W's would be better off as a franchise if they voided his contract and got his salary off their books.
