So I talked about this guy when we were in the 6-10 range in the draft, and he has since dropped to somewhere around the 15-20 range. What would you think if we got him with Houston's pick and used our top pick to play with, possibly deal. There are a fair amount of solid SF in the league that we could trade for with that #1 pick. We could try and package that with Greene and a future first to go after Gay? What do you guys think?

Most of the stuff I hear about Curry is that he's much more a SG than a PG, which unless they're planning on trading Martin isn't exactly our need area.

^And that's the reason why he's in the 20 range. But watching him play, I can see that he has a really good court vision and basketball IQ. The guy can score as well, so if he can learn how to be an NBA PG, he could turn into a steve nash sort of player. That's asking for a lot, but it could be a best case scenario.

Those that say that simply aren't watching him play, or not noticing the improvement he's made in the last year. There is some doubt whether he comes out this year but if he does he's a top 5 talent IMO. He's a PG but one with unlimited range, just watch any game and you will see that he can see the floor incredibly well. While I think James Harden would be a nice fit at PG for our system and is more talented, I think Stephen Curry is the absolute definition of perfection for us at PG. He can play with the ball, off the ball, and make plays for his teammates. There are questions about his ability to get into the lane, which I think he's just fine at, but like I said, if we go back to a team motion based offense he'd have all the necessary skills for what we need. The Mike Bibby comparisons are pretty accurate but Bibby was never as good off the dribble as Curry already is. If draft day comes and he is still there in the 20's? Man, there is going to a lot of stupid looking GM's for passing him up.

I really like the idea of dealing our top pick for an established player and using our later 1st rounder (or rounders!) on a player like Curry. However, I would like to trade down a spot or two if Rubio isnt out there for us and pick up 1 of the other top PGs. However, if Nash were to be available in that 6-8 mil range in a trade I would change my philosophy entirely. But for some reason I cant get Bayless/Batum? and pick for signed and traded Nash out of my head....Bayless back to Zona and Nash finally to the Blazers...but I digress. As for Curry, if we go big early and don't make a move I would love to see us pick him up if nothing else for the excitement of "will this work in the NBA?".....Watching Beno's drive and jump pass to the perimeter (although successful 2x) makes me cringe and I would love to inject a new kind of anything into that slot....even if its a chucker! kidding...

Honestly, if Curry falls to the Rockets pick, I'm very happy. Otherwise, I'm not too worried.

Curry is a great scorer but is he a winner? The Bibby comparison is debatable because Bibby won a Nat Championship his soph year, but he was surrounded with better players. Curry did go 26-7 this year which is the same as Harden's record. Patty Mills went 25-6. I don't really care if he went to a smaller school but his team should have.

KMart is a great scorer but not a legit winner, we have to seperate scorer from winner. We have plenty of scorers.

he'll impact the game in the same way douby did i believe...or at best Acie Law. Curry wont be anything special. I'm so not on his hype to tell you the truth. His game doesnt really impress me at all

I think Curry is one of the good point gaurds (kinda) we can target with the houston pick. Others include...

Don't think I'm missing any, but go ahead and add on if you have more. These are good quality guards, that could challenge for the starting spot the 1st day of summer. I think as we get through the tournament, and closer to the draft we will see who on this list is the most valuable, and who will already be gone. But for now, that looks to be an impressive list of possible point guards probably going to be available with that houston pick... I'm excited to pair Blake Griffin (hope for the #1 pick) with one of those guards. That Houston pick will be a huge step to developing our future.

Haha again with the Steve Nash comparison. They're quite different, but anyway I would definitely take him with the Houston pick. Bibby is the best comparison, and as far as him not being a winner...Bibby played for Arizona, a much better team than Davidson, so its not a fair comparison.

We need a star that is a winner and a leader bad. Curry is not that. i think the curry martin combo could score a lot, but they would suck on defense and neither is great at setting up the other team mates. If we used houstons pick for a pg i would want maynor the most. he wont be a star, but he seems to take over in important games. my first choices are still rubio and jennings.

Haha, this "winner" stuff is just unbelievable. I'll take the talent thank you very much. If we want a winner go trade Kevin Martin for Bruce Bowen, but by all means stay away from the Kevin Durants of the world.

When I see Curry I see as a true a PG as just about anyone else! He really sees the floor incredibly well. He just happens to be a great shooter too.

I know about his scoring ability, but what I don't know in general about and may have heard relative negativity about, is his defensive ability - how is his defense going to be?

If he's a decent or better defender and not too much of a gambler, then he'd be absolute perfection. If he's going to be something of a liability there, then that would suck quite a bit, because we'd be at a serious disadvantgage basically every game at a big-time offensive position.

I'd like to see us get a guy at PG who's not a bad defender (doesn't have to be special, but consistently effective), and as well as having quality talent offensively.

I think he'll be just fine. I see no reason he shouldn't be at least solid. He isn't the biggest, longest, or strongest player but there are very few PG's that simply overwhelm in those areas anyway.
