So i was meandering around ESPN.com and I stumbled across Chad ford's page talking about who's in and who's out. I was shocked by the people that are out this year, I mean some of the guys were talked about being one of the top 3-5 picks in the draft.

Cole Aldrich
Al-Farouq Aminu
Ed Davis
Greg Monroe
John Wall
Willie Warren

Those are just some notables. I just thought this was interesting that so many guys had the piece of mind to stay in college one more year to develop their skills. It kinda hurts us considering we're going to be near the top, but do you guys have any thoughts on this?

Personally, I think all those guys NEED another year in college. It seems like every year there are several players that get drafted completely on potential when they clearly aren't ready for the NBA. I think this is a smart decision for all these guys. The one exception I had was John Wall, I would have liked to see him come out, but that is only because I would have felt a LOT better about landing the 3rd pick. I think even a single year playing college ball will improve him immensely.

As it stands right now, I'd be very happy with either 1st or 2nd pick, but 3 or 4 and I will be very disappointed.

Wall would've been a top 3 pick, possibly two so I am surprised he didn't come out. Aldrich, Monroe and Davis were probably top 10 but after workouts who knows so slightly surprised they didn't. I'm sure there coaches sold them on the Blake Griffin stayed and is the #1 pick now angle.

i thought john wall was coming out of HS this year....

I still think, if you are guaranteed 1st rounder you come out if for nothing more than the risk of something bad which either worsens your stock, or god forbid even worse.

Agreed SacKingZZZ. I think it depends on the talent level, but if you have the talent that someone will draft you right out of HS, then you go for it.

That way, you have some time to learn & grow in the NBA game. NBA offense and defense is played differently than in college. No question that College has its place for the majority of players, but a select few, it probably is better for them to come straight out of HS. Is John Wall that kind of player? Maybe..maybe not....I've only seen a few highlights, so I can't really say.

He's 19 and a fifth year senior making him eligible possibly based on interpretations of the CBA.

Sacramento's probably going to have a lottery pick next year barring some nearly unprecedented improvement in the Kings record.

Kings will probably have an opportunity to acquire one of these players next draft.

Griffen this year and Wall next year...That would lift the kings back to being one of the most exciting teams in the league..

If we get Griffin this year, I don't think we'll realistically be bad enough to have a great shot at Wall next year, barring unforeseen circumstances.

I don't see Griffen as a rook lifting the kings out of the bottom of the standings...That's not a bad thing..You want the kings to suck donkey balls for a few years ..That's the best way to build a championship core..

That's also the best way for the team to never sell tickets and for the city to not care enough about the team to consider many potential arena deals should they come up. I'm well aware of this theory but it's not just the least bit practical, no matter how many times people around here repeat it without acknowledging the fact that the NBA is a business.

Anyway, I'm not saying we'll be out of the lottery with Griffin, just that we'll be good enough to where assuming that we can just get another very high pick is kind of silly.

Plus, we'd have to be lucky enough to win the lottery twice... and come on now. Griffin alone is unlikely, Griffin/Wall is a pipe dream. I can pray and plan all I want that I'll wake up one morning with a supermodel in my bed but that sure as hell isn't likely.

like you said, we would be lucky to get Griffin, but Griffin and Wall? HA! I guess beyonce and I are getting Hitched tomorrow.

Maybe not by himself, but with an improved Coaching presence AND Griffin. I have a hard time seeing a team led by Griffin/Martin with a developing Hawes/Thompson not being a much improved team this year. The kings badly underperformed this season and a lot of the blame can be focused on coaching.

We could be better, but again, everything in life is relative.

It all depends if teams rebuild or stay put.

Sacramento
Washington (with #2 and Arenas, they HAVE to be a better team.)
LA Clippers (This team underperformed like no other, if they get any form of coaching and structure together, they are a good team. They have too much veteran talent to be this bad)
OKC (Thunder will be the best team in the league very shortly, book it)
Minnesota (They were playing great with Al, if Al is healthy, they can't be worse than this year)
Memphis
Golden State (If they are healthy, they are still a good team)
NYK
Toronto (wtf happened to them)

Based off of talent, we are on the bottom. Most teams around us, are only in that situation because of major injuries. I dunno, I just don't see our team jumping instantly in 1 year. This team also has no heart, and until someone comes in and becomes a leader, we will continue to underperform

Teams like the Suns, Spurs and others are declining too. However, it's not HARD to improve on 17 wins. 17 to 28 wins is a significant jump. I still think we're a lotto team at LEAST one more year barring some blockbuster move. But with that said, we can be a drastically improved team next year.
