In the event we get the #1 pick & the KINGS prefer RUBIO simply because we have 2 young bigs in HAWES & THOMPSON 2 teams that would be great lottery trade partners for us were we could better our team dramatically in comparison to what we have wouldf be these 2 teams & Its deals
if they get the #2 pick and want to move up !

GRIZZLIES : With all there point guards if the would give up CONLEY we could trade our #1 pick for their #2 pick overall & Conley
NEW JERSEY : They get our # 1 pick for their #2 overall plus they deal us R.Anderson great young talent from Sacramento !

if either 2 scenerios happen what do you guys think ?

I do not want conley anywhere near this team. The New Jersey one makes some sense, but we should pawn off a contract while we're at it.

I would want to do a trade with the number two, ie okc:
#1: griffin for #2: rubio and jeff green.

That's a steep price for OKC, but I think they would do it because green would become obsolete if griffin was there.

Rubio/Beno
Martin/Garcia
Green/Noc
Thompson/Diagu
Hawes/#23?

That's a pretty dang good lineup.

I'd give OKC Greene as well.

For what it's worth, I think Green (Jeff) is better suited at PF, so I'm not particularly interested in him. However, in that respect, he might be able to be part of another very dynamic 3 man big rotation (obviouslly with him and Jason, Jason would be at center. I was actually curious to think about this, so if we get number 1, and we want to trade down for Ricky, here is what we could do with different teams at #2.

If Washington
I might try something like Griffin, Greene and #31 for Rubio and MgGee

Petrie said some nice things about MgGee before the draft last year, and like Donte, he is very raw, but he could potentially be an amazing 3rd big for us.

Rubio\Beno
Martin\Garcia
Nocioni\Sam Young?
Thompson\Diogu?
Hawes\MgGee

If the Thunder
Blake Griffin and Beno Udrih for Ricky Rubio, Earl Watson and #25 pick We dump Beno and pick up an extra pick.

Rubio\Watson
Martin\Holiday?\Taylor?
Nocioni\Garcia
Thompson\Lawal?
Hawes\

If Memphis (this one is pushing it, but here it goes)
Griffin, Greene, #23, #31, future lotto protected 1st, Thomas for Rubio, Gay, Jaric

Memphis picks Budinger at 23, Collison at 27, Mills at 31, and Danny Green at 35

Conley\Collison\Mills
Mayo\Budinger
Warrick\Greene\D. Green
Griffin\Arthur
Gasol\Milicic\Haddadi

Kings look to have their starting 5 for the future set in place.

Rubio\Udrih
Martin\Jaric
Gay\Garcia
Thompson\Nocioni
Hawes\FA

I don't think Griffin for RUbio/MCGee is enough, let alone us throwing in a prospect and the 1st overall pick in the 2nd round.

Hold onto your hats guys, cause I'm about to disagree with mitch, which is something foreign, I know.

I think that Jeff Green is a great fit on this team. He's very physical for a 3, and yet he is quick enough to guard some of the Melo's of the league. Plus we could move him to the 4 and rotate the lineup to create all kinds of mismatches.

I will disagree as well with the washington trade. McGee isn't good enough to make up the difference between griffin and rubio. Maybe washington adds a future first to even it out.

I would take the memphis trade though, but I think they would end up denying. Mayo/Gay got their stuff together last year, and I think that Memphis wants to keep that tandem in tact.

Trading with the Thunder makes probably the most sense considering they have Westbrook who had a very strong rookie season.

If we got the deal you proposed, I'd be estatic. Watson is a very solid backup, can shoot and is a good defender. Then we'd also have the #23 and #25 picks, which should give us at the least 2 solid role players for the future.

If we ended up with rubio, martin, gay, JT, and spencer as our starting linup next year I would be ecstatic. Then resign ike and have him, garcia, noc, beno off the bench. We would not only have our starting linup for the next 5-8 years but we would be at least very competitive next year.
Please petrie work your magic!

I don't know, McGee has some pretty decent upside. He's already put in some pretty nice games and has a pretty high ceiling in my book.

I agree with Mitch, I think Green is a better PF.

That would definitely be a great trade but why exactly would Memphis trade their best player? O wait I forgot we are talking about Memphis who traded Gasol for a pack of beer and some fritos haha. If we could rob them of Gay him and Martin would be scary.

I do all the time, but I still like the guy :P

I think we draft Griffin, and if the right trade is available we do so for Rubio. I think Thompson for Rubio is a good trade for the Grizz IMO. It may work with the Wizards as well. I just don't see those teams too interested in Rubio. I think if we get the one we draft Griffin and put together a package for Rubio if other teams are interested. Thompson and the 23rd for Rubio IMO gets it done. We just need a team with the right "non fit" for Rubio to draft 2nd and us to draft 1st.

The Wiz are swamped in the frontcourt. No way they trade Rubio for Thompson or any PF for that matter.

What the hell is wrong with you all? Trade Griffin, the most dynamic, Star Potential, NBA ready player, for an unproven 18 year old kid who we have no idea how he will adjust to the NBA game? Wow, how damn greedy are you? Griffin is a star, Rubio can become a star.

I think you are all way off base. If anything trade Thompson. There is a reason Thompson was drafted 12th last year after 4 years of college. He is not a star, and never will be one. Damn, Im all for grabbing a pg, but you guys want to give up Griffin? I hope Petrie has a little more sense than you all.

My plan is draft Griffin. See what pg we land with the 23rd pick. If we get a quality Teague, Flynn, etc. than find a SF for Thompson. IF we don't get a pg with that pick trade Thompson for Conley. I don't get the hate for the guy. Look what he did February on. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/424 ... cga2yNPaB4

I would take
pg: Teague/ Beno
sg: Martin/ Garcia
sf: Nocioni/ Greene
pf: Griffin/ Greene
c: Hawes/ 2nd round 1st pick

over

pg. Beno / Rubio (not ready to play in the NBA)
sg. Martin/ Garcia
sf. Nocioni/ Greene
pf: Thompson/ Greene
c: Hawes/ 2nd round

If you want the same team that won 17 games this year go ahead and pass on Griffin for Rubio. Man our fan base is way the hell off. I'm just glad that Petrie has came out and said he is taking Griffin.

Nobody that hasn't been in the league yet is a star. College isn't the NBA and Griffin, in that sense, is just as unproven as Rubio. To act like any prospect is a sure thing is just plain silly.

I'm glad somebody finally agrees with me my silent thoughts in my head since I have been a viewer of threads on here and not a contributor but now that I am I feel what you are saying about Rubio. I mean nobody really knows how either is going to pan out we are speculating, but based on speculation Rubio is not a God and neither is Griffin, but if you look at Griffin's body of work so far he has shown more that would make you think he's going to be a hell of a player in the NBA. For Rubio so much is unkown about him all we know is what he displayed in the Olympics which had many people clamoring for him understandably so. I hope we don't pass on Griffin yet it would make me sick to see Rubio be an allstar PG. Ultimately we are hoping for the number 1 pick one way or the other I just hope we get the top 2 picks then we won't be screwed either way.

How is teague any more qualified to start in the NBA than Rubio? The dude played point guard for half a year and huge questions were raised about his ability at the postition. Rubio played exceedingly well for an 18 year old in the olympics and had a pretty damn good showing against the likes of Chris Paul and Deron Williams. While there is no sure fire way of saying anyone is going to be a star (yes, even Griffin) this draft is too weak not to draft based on potential. Our team needs a point guard and i f GP thinks we can get good value in a trade for Rubio that's great. You can't make the mistake of thinking a public forum is anything close to the front office of a proffessional organization, so don't get pissed off when people throw out their ideas because unfortunately this is the place where you are supposed to do it. I also understand you are entitled to your opinion and can clearly understand your stance, however, this is a discussion debating wether we would take griffin or rubio and last i checked there must be 2 sides to an argument. So calling all sacramento fans senseless is both illogical and ignorant. good day sir.

Murray, Murray Murray....Why so serious????

I see your buying the Griffin hype and thats cool, but how many UNDERSIZED PF dominate in College than absolutly take a crap in the pros? John Wallace comes to mind...Anyway I think Griffin will be good..not sold on great...but good.

I would rather take Rubio because how many 18 year olds have you seen shut down CP3, D-Will, Kidd. The kid is special and will bring Sac back to international acclaim (at least in Spain).

IMO The kings will be good with either kids.

True, but if you were to project the career of the two most likely Griffin will be an all star multiple times, Rubio on the other hand may suffer from Mike Bibby syndrome (who also was drafted 2nd) and get passed over for the all star team his entire year. Bibby was a BIG part of our runs earlier in the decade though. He (if a King) would play in the same conference as Paul and Williams so not being an all star isn't necessarily a knock on him.

Drafting is about projections, and if you are going to entertain drafting someone you must have some kind of idea what kind of talent you're getting. People are paid well to do just that. What Rubio does best are things the Kings are seriously lacking.

The Wiz are swamped in the frontcourt. No way they trade Rubio for Thompson or any PF for that matter.

Unless they are ready to make Arenas a SG or trade him they are kind of set at the 1 don't you think? I'm not up on how he has looked coming off injury though (Veejay?). The names of the Wizard's frontcourt players other than Jamison aren't anything to write home about anyway. The point was more that some team may look at #2 and think we don't belong here. Hopefully that team is a compatable trade partner with the Kings. That was the main point.

Ah, all this Griffin/#1 talk for more than likely nothing. C'mon lotto get here already so we can basque in the light of our own crapitude!!! (nevermind me, just using a little reverse psychology/jinx).
