The EFF YOU David Stern Mock Draft thread

Post#1 » by Smills91 » Wed May 20, 2009 2:57 am

Well now that we know the results. The speculation can begin. Stern can go bite himself. I think it's Bflewis who promised to kill him in another thread, and I'm holding him to his word.

As for my mock I'm doing this:

1) Clippers - Blake Griffin
2) Grizzlies - Ricky Rubio
3) Thunder - James Harden
4) Kings -Tyreke Evans
5) Wizards - Jordan Hill
6) Wolves - Hasheem Thabeet
7) Warriors - Brandon Jennings
8) Knicks - Stephen Curry
9) Raptors - DeMar DeRozan
10) Bucks - Earl Clark
11) Nets - Jeff Teague
12) Bobcats - DeJuan Blair
13) Pacers - Gerald Henderson
14) Suns - Ty Lawson
15) Pistons - James Johnson
16) Bulls - BJ Mullens
17) Sixers - Jonny Flynn
18) T-Wolves - Eric Maynor
19) Hawks - Jrue Holiday
20) Jazz - Chase Budinger
21) Hornets - Gani Lawal
22) Mavericks - Terrence Williams
23) Kings - Marcus Thornton
24) Blazers - Darren Collison
25) Thunder - Tyler Hansbrough
26) Bulls - Jermaine Taylor
27) Grizzlies - DeJuan Summers
28) T-Wolves - Austin Daye
29) Lakers - Sergio Llull
30) Cavs - Sam Young
31) Kings - Omri Casspi

I think we will draft a guy like Evans or Holiday (solid PG good drivers not good shooters) or a PG like a Curry or Teague (solid PG better shooters not as good drivers). I don't know which way Petrie will prefer but Bibby and Peja were shooters first so he will probably lean to the shooters.

I don't see the any offensive picks in the last 2 since we need a defensive SF and shot blocker off the bench. We definitely have some options with Noc and Kenny Thomas. I just don't see us unloading Martin unless we get a knock us off our feet deal.

Curry and Martin would take a lot of pressure off KMart to be the guy and would help him. Can Curry make some clutch shots? I think he can.

I'm going crazy

I think Petrie might end up going with a wing.

1) Clippers - Blake Griffin
2) Grizzlies - Ricky Rubio
3) Thunder - Hasheem Thabeet
4) Kings - DeMar DeRozan
5) Wizards - Tyreke Evans
6) Wolves - James Harden
7) Warriors - Brandon Jennings
8) Knicks - Stephen Curry
9) Raptors -Jordan Hill
10) Bucks - Earl Clark

for now...

We should just take the best available and trade down to someone between 6-9 where derozan/evans/harden are available. I would prefer Derozan of the three personally, but it would be a little early to take him at 4 IMO.

Despite the fact he's from SC. We need a great SF, and Derozan is a great scorer, very good athleticism, which gives him the tools to become a great defender. People have compared him to kobe, and that I like, (unless its because he's a rapist). Ideally, we trade to the raps at 9 so they take harden and we get derozan. Not sure what else we could weasel out of them though.

Honestly, I see Rubio falling to #3. Memphis has no need for Rubio. Thabeet is a much better choice for them. The thunder are not particularly in need of Rubio either at 3, but will take him just do to value. I say we make a play at Rubio from Thunder for James Harden. Harden fits the need better for the Thunder, and we do have the assests to make this trade.

Please make a play for Rubio from the Thunder Petrie!

How on earth do you think Rubio will fall.

Back before there were only a few "doomsdayers" out there and everyone believed we would get the 1st pick...how many people agreed with "Picking Rubio cause he's a better fit than Griffin"

ITS THE SAME CONCEPT!!!!!!!

Hey guys, I started a mock draft on the NBA draft board and the Kings are on the clock. Basically, I just need one of you guys to go over and make a pick for your team. This should be an interesting process.

Thanks in advance for your input.

It's called droppage minimization. Taking a high potential pick with major risk will hopefully pan out and become a superstar. That or everyone just doesn't care anymore and we can then at least say we have a team comprised mostly of shooting guards.

I'm on the James Harden bandwagon all the way but I'd be way more than OK with Evans, although I wouldn't be surprised if a guy like Jordan Hill or Jeff Teague comes in and fires off 300 3 pointers in a row standing on their head while holding a roman candle between their buttcheeks and Petrie goes with them instead.

Not sure about Evans or Jennings, all I've heard is what people have said. But I do like Flynn.

A draft I wouldn't mind is too draft DeRozan/Harden at 4, then package our 23/31 to the mid-teens and draft Flynn. I'd be happy with that draft honestly.
Sometimes you just have to look yourself in the mirror and say....Tyreke Evans.
That just happened.

Wizz wants to trade #5.
We have expirng contracts, players like JT, NOC, Garcia, Udrih, Greene, and HOU pick.
Can we pick Jennings/Harden/Evans + DeRozan?
That's the point!

That would certainly be a way to insure we get at least 1 more than solid prospect. I just don't know if it would be worth taking the cap hit that it would most likely take.

hell ya do it. maybe take back stevenson. they get greene and a back up pg and cap relief. get a pg and derozan. if we had 4 and 5 i may even take thabeet with one of them if avalible. at worst he will be a weak side shot blocker and the team needs that bad.
