OT: If Kings get Rubio, THEN wins the lotto 2010...

Post#1 » by perezident » Sat May 23, 2009 7:08 am

What would be the way going forward? How would we handle the situation? What would you guys want to see happening.

There are alot of if's here but, What if Rubio plays stellar for us and wins the ROY. Rubio is the PERFECT fit for us(kings). But the team still sucked just enough to get the #1 in 2010.

What do we do? Use wall as trade bait to get a SF or a PF all allstar caliber of course. Or do we trade Rubio?

This would be an interesting turn of events for us. I was just thinking about that and thought I should tickle the fantasy minds of my fellow kings fans a bit.

If it was me i would trade Wall and pretty much OWN another team in the trade by ridding ourselves of terrible contracts like Beno and Nocioni. Maybe a package of Wall Beno Noc for Bosh (extended) expiring fillers and a pick would be ideal??

This is hypothetical but can become realistic due to the Rubio rumors of wanting to play here.

If you sleep on Beno, he can drop 30/10 on you.

^Shall remain until this happens

What if Rubio isn't athletic enough to be anywhere close to an elite PG??? What if he can't develop the outside game he will need to survive in the NBA??? Still with that said, Rubio ain't going past #2.

Ricky Rubio and John Wall in the same team!? Out of all teams, the Kings!? HAHAHAHA

Seriously though, IF we manage to grab Rubio and Wall (A big big big big IF), we better keep them for at least one year to see how well they gel together. A Wall/Rubio/Martin/Thompson/Hawes foundation is too good to be true.

If we get Rubio Im going to make a bold prediction that we won't get a top 10 pick next year.

I agree. I am one of the minority that truly thinks from what I have seen of him that he would really shine on this team with what we have in place RIGHT NOW. He has already more than proven that he can not only play with but out play top NBA talent on the biggest stage of all for foreign players. The fact that he is a true natural floor general is one of the key ingredients that we are missing, and I would hope that a new coach coming here together with him would be confident enough to put the team into his hands and establish him as the unquestioned on-floor leader.

That of course depends on whether we trade to get him or not now.

I see Wall a bit like Ron Artest, except as as a rookin Ron tried to get a job at Best Buy to get a discount on electronics where Wall will just break into your house to get what he wants.

Woooooooow. I am considering making this my sig. This is a VERY bold prediction, considering you are saying we are going to be better than 10 teams in the league... I hope that I eat my words in bashing your prediction nick, but this seems crazy.

I also agree with a PG, some minor role players added and confidence this team will at least battle for 30wins. Just a coach not named Kenny Natt is good for 10+ more wins. Add to it Rubio and we would be good for 30+ wins. They will be up and downs but no doubt will be better. There is no way we get in the top 10.

We nearly hit .500 (38-44) with Moore, Miller, Artest (who missed 30 games), Martin and Beno with Theus coaching the first year. You mean we can't win more games than that team with Rubio (or Holiday or Curry or other top PG), Martin, Hawes, and Thompson plus a Westphal or Jordan. We had a roster full of young guys last year plus a rookie coach who had no idea how to handle vets much less rooks (pretty much a perfect storm of crap).

Noc<Artest (by only a little)
Rubio>Beno
Martin=Martin
Thompson> Miller (equal this year but better next year)
Hawes>Moore

New Coach=Theus
How can we not at least be in the hunt for a playoff spot?

It's amazing what teams with vets can do though. Young teams don't usually lose do to lack of talent, they lose do to lack of experience. I expect another majorly rocky season next year, maybe not as bad as this year, but in terms of W/L it will probably be pretty ugly. Although that doesn't mean it's going to necessarily be a horrible year, even last year this team was pretty competitive game in, game out and right now the focus has to be on individual improvement.
