I was thinking about kenny and it came to my mind why he has a fairly big contract. What did he do to deserve this contract from the sixers? what draft pick was he selected with?

Kenny Thomas was selected at # 22 by Houston in 1999 but he was traded to the Sixers in a three way trade between Rockets/Nuggets/Sixers.
At the time he was very very solid player. Superb rebounder for his height, played good post defense, athletic, had a mid range jumper and had pretty good upside back in his days. Kenny Thomas was basically a double-double threat every night.
Billy King (Sixers GM) signed Thomas to a multi-year deal contract for Thomas.

Hes averaged a double-double over the course of an entire season, how or why he forgot to play basketball is beyond me and the reason i consider him the deusche of all deuchebags in Kings history...topping Duane Causwell.

SMILLS :
You must have forgotten we draft PERVOUS ELLISON as a #1 overall draft pick and he is by far the biggest bust in KINGS history making him the worst in KINGS history !

Eh, we got rid of him rather early in his contract and he wasn't a noose around our necks for MULTIPLE years. That draft was utterly pathetic, perhaps the 2nd worst in NBA history (after 2000).

When you are 6'7" and rely on pure athleticm when the athleticm goes there is not much else you can do? He was pretty like a young Sam Young type SF. Like Smills said he used to put up Mikki Moore like numbers except blocks. He was valuable here when we had Miller and Shareef because they didn't rebound well at the 4/5. Don't ask me how a outside the top 3 can on a roster can make 5-10mil a year? The NBA needs to come back to reality.
Look at Kobe he got hurt 2 years ago and has not been able to blow by people anymore, you saw how frustrated he got last game when they were playing him tough. He used to absolutely blow by people but now he can't. That's what happens when you hit 28-32 for most people the injuries just start healing slower and they start piling up. That's why guaranteed long contracts in the NBA or sports in general 4 years should be the most. THe NBA players union contract expires summer 2010 so they will be some major adjustments.

Sorry I am half asleep, I meant to say he way a double double guy like you said. Kind of like Mikki Moore or Scott Pollard at 6'7" without the blocks.
I combined my thoughts.

KT is still a solid player. He is a solid rebounder and he plays great post defense. Adelman used to put him on KG and KT played him the best I've seen anyone play KG.
Its not like KT has forgotton how to play. For him, he is in a bad situation. Had a rough stretch, got in the dog house, younger players came in and while he good of helped the team, the younger players took all the minutes. The few times he did play last year he was actually productive.

When did Mikki Moore EVER average a double-double over the course of a season?

Did you see his number his last season as a starter? Wasn't it like 7 and 6? AS A STARTING PF!?!?!?!?

Obviously KT is overpaid and is definately no longer a starting PF in this league, but I think on a contender, he could still put up decent numbers (8 and 5, maybe) on a reasonable deal, maybe 1-2 million a year.

I don't think the Kings ever planned on keeping his contract. Thomas played well under Adelman, but the organization never used him after that. We brought in SAR and he was supposed to be the guy. Abdur Raheem got hurt, and Thomas and the Kings have been at odds since. I don't think the lack of playing time has anything to do with declining skills.
I was at Avalon when the Kings were on the road playing and Kenny Thomas was in VIP. I think the Kings just don't want him around. It could have to do with his attitude and not his game?

Contract aside, Kenny > Diogu, Mikki, and Shelden combined.

I don't know why Adelman AND Musselman started Kenny over Shareef. He was clearly the better player when he got the minutes. and I will take Diogu and Mikki over Kenny any day of the week. And Shelden Williams has Candace Parker so he is better too.

Eh, I don't know about Diogu. When's the last time Kenny put up the numbers that Diogu did at the end of the season?

I never said he should start. EVER. If you actually read my damn freaking post, I said he went through a rough stretch and didn't play good.
GOOD GOD. I don't even like the guy, I was just making a simple statement that he could contribute for a team. Forgive me for having a opinion.
