The Kings have also reached out to the Celtics and would be willing to deal the No. 4 pick if they could get Rondo in return. The Celtics would likely want more than just the No. 4 pick for Rondo -- and the Kings might be willing to throw in either Jason Thompson or Spencer Hawes to make it happen.

Ah, it’s just about that time…the rumor mill is starting to spin out of control. However, this rumor appears to have some legs…they might be small, but, they’re there.

In a report on ESPN per Chad Ford, he’s been told from his sources that the Kings have offered the #4 pick to the Celtics for Rajon Rondo, however, he says the Celtics want Jason Thompson in return.

i would definitely be for a trade to get rondo.
i also heard a rumor that noc could be involved in a trade with boston
maybe: noc, #4 for rondo,filler
this also could just be pure speculation from chad ford but i could also see this happening.

Isn't Rondo technically a free agent right now?

I could see the Kings giving #4 but that and Thompson or Hawes would be too much.

I looked on hoopshype and rondo is under contract this next season then the season after that is the qualifying offer. So I'm not sure if thats true.

But we run into the same problem of trading 4 and thompson. ROndo is a little below a superstar point guard. And I'm really scared to see how rondo would be without his celtics cast and he did start struggling in the playoffs.

I'm like 50/.50 on 4 pick + filler ( not thompson/hawes or martin)

I can see for the #4 maybe, he just put up some sick numbers in the playoffs but adding Jason Thompson or any other valuable piece for that matter is just stupid. Petrie DON'T BE STUPID!!! I have faith that he won't be. Hopefully.....

Rondo is not a superstar PG, he is missing a pretty key ingredient, the ability to score on a consistent basis. Hell, the guy can't even shoot on a consistent basis. I'd rather keep the pick. I know the Celts are trying to move up to get Evans so I assume they are calling all the teams in range of getting him and finding out what it would take.

The problem is 2 things

1) they want thompson or hawes with the 4th pick

2) rondo wont be nearly as good with the kings as he is with the celtics

Question is are you alright giving up thompson/hawes and 4th pick for a rondo thats not as good as he is on the celtics??

If the celtics want to not demand thompson and hawes with the 4 pick i think the kings do it. But not with thompson/hawes/martin involved.

he could play great this year then raise his stock for free agency.. bolt for the next contender.. with us no power forward or center AND pointguard...

I just check it said he is under contract this year, then the next year he is up for the qualifying offer.

Only way I do it is if its for the number 4 pick and scraps (meaning no thompson/hawes/martin)

4th and trash for rondo..

then trade him to the grizz for their pick...

So 2 top 10 picks for a #21 guy who has a career average a 12/8? Beno averaged 11/5 in 10 shots agame. In the 1 plaoff series only (vs the Bulls) series Rondo averaged a 20/11 on 20 shots a game the rest of the year he averaged 12/8 on 10 shots a game. The main reason he got so many shots in the playoffs was because Garnett was injured. I think it is too much to give up also.

heck even udrih is better than him career wise he has two rings

agree that we are giving too much for rondo. and jt going to the celts would just kill his growth.. and ugh we might have to take in miki moore again!

we cant fill the gap with diogu.. undersized. just when we get a real big man with athleticism and size we trade him for rondo? were just filling in a need and putting on another hole..

plus as i said earlier what if he declines to sign with us? we lost a lot

If the Kings are trading #4 for Rondo, it has to be with the understanding that he will sign an extension, otherwise it's an easy no. Trading a lottery pick for a 1 year rental, even if he is a very good young player, is a non starter.

Don't like this at all. I like Rondo but this trade doesn't make sense to me. Its not like we'd be getting CP3 or D-Williams.

If Petrie does this, he better have something up his sleave, because I don't see the logic.

it might have to be with Noc, because the kings and celtics almost made a deal before the trade deadline for glen davis...

im okay with giving up any one of those 3
trading our pick and a filler for him straigh up would be ideal because the kings are gonna get a pg anyways with the pick so why not get a proven pg that is still young and on a rookie contract. imo a rondo and martin backcourt would be great with garcia on the other side. rondo slashin and kickin it to our great shooters or dishing to jt for a dunk. you also cant say well i dont think he will be as good without the big 3...i would agree with that if it were last year but this year he was the best player for the celtics in the playoffs during some games. i wouldnt be opposed to trading jt for him either because its harder to find a great pg than it is a pf.

Apparantly, the CELTICS are the ones who approached the Kings about a Rondo/#4 swap.

If its the #4 & Noc for Rondo, thats a more fair swap.

I would much rather move #4 along with Thompson to get Rondo 2.0 in Rubio then to get the non-money making machine in Rondo
