Kings sour on Rubio?

I know people keep talking about smoke screens and carefully thought of moves to make the public think we don't want Rubio even though we probably do, but one has to think maybe the Kings really don't want Rubio. Another story today about how the Kings are souring on Rubio and the article names Petrie. What do you guys think more crap to make Rubio fall? or Simply just not enamored with him the way most of us are?

Report: Kings Are Souring On Rubio

Jun 23, 2009 4:14 PM EST

Last week it appeared to be a lock that the Kings would take Ricky Rubio if he was available with the fourth pick.

Now, reports indicate that Sacramento general manager Geoff Petrie could be leaning towards Memphis guard Tyreke Evans and Syracuse guard Jonny Flynn.

This is basically just re-reporting what's already been said. It doesn't seem to be based off of any new information.

besides that, the workout really didnt show rubio's true talent.......he said it was different, no teammates were around him to showcase his true game as a pg. it was mainly just one on none play, shooting, dribbling and so forth. im pretty sure petrie is still high on rubio and it seems more likely that thabeet falls to memphis at 2 and harden at 3. but will see what happens in a couple days.

alright i guess the thunder hired a spanish law firm to help rubio and his buyout....looks like okc has a strong interest in drafting rubio at 3. sl will be rubio, westbrook, durant, green and krstic...possibly.

Bringing Rubio in for a well publicized "disappointing workout" that played against his strengths is a well calculated move by Petrie. Its the same reason the Knicks brought back Holiday a second time and put him against a crap opponent to make him look like he had a "great workout."

Misdirection, boys. Not that hard to figure out if you see the intention behind it.

I don't know which direction they are going either.

might be moot now that the wolves acquired the #5 from wizards. They can pull the reported love/18 for 2 (rubio) and use the 5 on hill to replace love and the 6 to nab a shooter like curry.

Rubio
Curry
Brewer
Hill
Jefferson
Nice young squad

There's no way that the T-Wolves will have 3 picks in the top 6. No way. That would be...strange

Well, they have the (the newly acquired) #5 and their own #6. And there was rumors about Love for #2(Rubio) principle. I think it is not out of the question at the least.

Well, the T'Wolves are legitimate threat to the Kings now, if the Kings are really targeting Rubio. The Kings should counter move or just stay put and draft either of Evans or Flynn...

Yeah I think the Wolves package 5 and 6 for #2 now. Great deal for the Grizz. They can grab two solid players. I think we get Evans now.

1) Clippers - Griffin
2) Wolves - Rubio
3) Thunder - Thabeet/Harden
4) Kings - Evans
5) Grizzlies - Thabeet/Harden
6) Grizzlies - Jordan Hill

Yep. This completely changes the landscape of the top 6 or so. The T'Wolves has several options with those high lotto picks. They can trade it for the #2 (Even though, it may be a tad bit much of a price to pay) or stay put in draft both Harden and Curry? I think either way the T'Wolves put themselves very very nicely after this trade.

If the Kings are hoping Rubio to drop at #4, it may not happen. Ricky Rubio may be traded before the Kings get the chance to draft.

If I were the Wolves, I would just keep the 5th and 6th pick and hope that Harden/Evans falls to them. I would much rather have two quality players over Rubio. But...they desperately need a PG, maybe even more than us now.

Could you imagine if the Wolves traded Love for the #2 (and kept the 5th and 6th pick), then somehow, got Earl Clark with the 18th pick?

Rubio
Harden
Clark
Hill
Jefferson

or

Rubio
Harden
Clark
Jefferson
Thabeet

Wow.

the timberwolves are really scaring me right now. I mean the 6 and 5 picks and the possible 2 pick. Really there is about 3-5 moves the wolves right now could make that could shake the draft even more

Wow this is amazing weren't we talking about a similar trade for the kings to make involving Kenny Thomas to get the 5th pick. Well I will say this Rubio is basically now a goner this is stupid though for Minnesota they could improve their team so much with 2 great players rather than just one Rubio. If they do make that trade up to 2 the Grizz have definitely pulled a Gasol like trade on the Wolves. Ultimately Tyreke Evans is a great consolation prize for the Kings and might end up being better for them in the long run. Always is something going against the Kings though always.

well i was thinking about the situation the wolves have right now- Wouldnt it be way more smarter just to keep the 5th and 6th picks rather than trade them for an unproven talent(Rubio)? Kahn is a smart man and Evans Flynn etc. well be available for their PG needs for sure at those slots. Keep in mind that the wolves do have the 18th,28th picks in the first round and the 15th and 17th picks in the second round so they have some room to move around than just for the second pick.
