http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/20 ... es-to-die/Kings deal:
Thompson
Garcia
for
Grizz deal:
#2 pick
It's a little rich for my blood, but that's much more reasonable than THompson + #4.
I'd do RATHER do Garcia + #4, personally. But we'll see, I doubt Petrie trades up.

God it must be early. When I first read you're post I could have sworn it said Thomas and Garcia, not Thompson and Garcia. My eyes bulged out of my head like a cartoon from the 50s.
It seems like a cool deal to me. At least cooler than Thompson and the 4th pick.

I would snap if something like this went down...especially if we used the 2nd pick to get Rubio. If we used it to get Thebeet, I could partially understand it. But I would still hate it.

Well if we have the Grizz select FOR us, and wait to do the deal in the Summer, we might be able to clear an extra 7 million dollars and use that 12-14 million in cap space on one of Lee/Millsap/Boozer to replace Thompson.
Package #23 + #31 to the Suns for #14 + #57
Kings get:
Rubio #2
Evans #4
Tyler Hansbrough #23
Toney Douglas#31
Offer Brandon bass a deal of 5 years 35 million 6/5/7/8/9
Fill out the roster with minimum contracts:
Francisco Elson
Rodney Carney
New roster:
C: Spencer Hawes, Ike Diogu(QO), Francisco Elson
PF: Brandon Bass, Tyler Hansbrough, Kenny Thomas
SF: Tyreke Evans, Andres Nocioni, Donte Greene
SG: Kevin Martin, Rodney Carney
PG: Ricky Rubio, Beno Udrih, Toney Douglas

I don't mind any of those deals in principal, But I do have doubts that Evans could start at small forward, isn't he 190 pounds?

I don't want to see Jason Thompson traded. He's not CWebb or CWebbesque but I still see a real bright future from the guy. I see David West potential in him, and there isn't David West potential in this draft. I don't know what we'd do with the #2 and #4 unless we're making a deal for Blake Griffin.
I'm not going to say NO on this trade, but getting the #2 and #4 may allow us to do something else.

What about Jordan Hill with #4 in this scenario?

Evans weighed 221 pounds in the pre-draft measurements. I still don't think I would play him at the 3 though. I haven't seen Thompson play at all, so you all would know his game. From afar (with no sight) it's a pretty decent value for the second pick.

As time has passed I have warmed up to trading with you guys. Looking at the situation, I'd look into something like this
2/Jaric
for
4/23/Garcia/Nocioni
I think this deal helps the Grizzlies in that we get some better vets to help the bench and to get the Grizzlies closer to the league minimum. Kings get to keep all their young guys, add Rubio, Jaric's deal is two years shorter than Nocioni, and should get immediate extra cap space from trading Garcia. I don't think it would create a TE since both team are under the cap. It might, but I think so.

I don't like ANY of these deals... honestly, why do we need 2 AND 4?

garcia is expected to make 5mil this coming season.. salaries wont match, throw in milicic.... i think the deal should be
(unless you guys are really so under the cap you can take garcias salaries right?)
4/31st/garcia/nocioni
for
2/milicic

Both teams should be under the cap (depending on who all the Kings release). The Grizzlies will be anywhere from $15M-$20M under the cap.

Why would we need the #2, to draft Rubio? As it is, I'm already leaning towards Ty Evans at #4 over Rubio if he's still there, so making this trade is an even worse situation IMO. I guess the purpose of this trade was to keep #4 correct? If this trade went down, my dream scenario would be to get Thabeet at #2, and Ty Evans at #4.
Outgoing: Thompson & Garcia
Incoming: Thabeet & Evans (hell even Flynn)...
I like that.

Haha wow, wouldn't it be interesting if, in the top 6 picks, two teams owned 2 picks each? It would be the Minnesota/Sacramento draft, and everyone else would be forced to watch

Anyways, I'm going to call BS on this one. Hawes would be terrible starting at PF (in case we drafted Thabeet to start at C), and I don't think Hill has even worked out for us yet (if we wanted to keep Hawes at C)? Besides, anyone who's seen all the JT commericals on TV lately knows that JT is a new face of this franchise (along with Martin/Garcia/Hawes).
If anything happens for the 2nd pick, it will most likely be the 4th + 23rd for the 2nd, or 5th + 18th for the 2nd. I don't think Minnesota will give up the 5th and 6th pick just to get Rubio. If they did that trade, they would be giving up Foye/Miller/6th pick/taking on bad contracts JUST to get Rubio.

This says nothing other than Clippers can't draft.

Thank god your not a GM...you seriously think the Clips will pass on Griffin? WOW. We wouldn't trade up to the #2 hoping the Clips would pass on Griffin because at this point, thats all we would be doing...HOPING. Wishful thinking though. I can see us trying to trade up once the Clips actually did pass on him, but then that would leave the Grizz wanting him along with plenty other teams that can offer a better deal than the Kings could.

I don't see any scenario, even if we took Baron Davis, where the Clips take anyone else OTHER than Griffin.
