Pick your Rookie of the Year.
With the draft complete and the destinations of the draft known, pick who you think will be the rookie of the year. Feel free to post your top 3 or 5 too.
A lot of times opportunity, fit and expectations play on who ultimately wins the ROY award.
So without further adieu, I'm going to be a homer and pick Evans.
I think Evans has the opportunity, skill-set and tools to be GREAT immediately and in the future.
I predict this:
1) Evans
2) Griffin
3) Curry
4) Harden
5) T. Williams
As the order of the rookies of the year.

I still HATE the pick but feeling is that Flynn & Evans are the frontrunners at this point.
Griffin's playing in too crowded of a front court, Thabeet is a project, Harden's likely to get overshadowed by Durant & Westbrook, Rubio isn't coming over, Hill's too raw, & no way Curry sees the ball enough playing with Ellis/Maggette/Cap'n Jack to put up the stats.
That leaves Flynn & Evans. Both have talent; both will be starting; both will have the ball in their hands a LOT; and both (most importantly) play on a horrible team who doesn't have a ball dominating player (well, Minne does but he's out for the first half of the year). Sounds like the recipe for ROY. That doesn't change the fact that it was a horrible pick.

Steph Curry IF he stays in GS.. In GS he will get free reign to launch 3s all day.
Other than him I will say Griffin...I think he gets 17 and 10 as a rookie. I would say 20 but Baron wont let him have to many shots.

If Griffin gets the playing time he will win it. I also think Stephen Curry could have a shot because he should get a lot of opportunities to shoot in Don Nelson's system. My rankings go..
1. Griffin
2. Curry
3. Evans
4. Flynn (If Rubio stays in Europe)
5. Harden

I see a 3 man race at this point. While Griffin is the best prospect, for whatever reason I don't forsee him as the clear cut fav to win it, anyone's game atm.
1) Evans - I predict a good year, don't see him breaking away from the pack by putting up 20/10 or anything, but I can definetly see a strong rookie season.
2) Griffin - As a big man, I think his rookie year will reflect the same kind of year K. Love had last year. Should be right in the running at the end for ROY.
3) Flynn - Minnie has no guards at this point, and its questionable if Rubes plays this year or ever puts on a T Wolves jersey. So Flynn will have alot of playing time, and should have a good year.
______________
4) Harden - Could have a breakout year, as I like his game alot. But I tend to think he will just have a good year, which would place him somewhere in the top 5, but not ROY.
5) Curry - Questionable, but I can see him playing great in GS but not enough for ROY.

Harden will definitely not finish in the top three rookies. He is good and he will help the Thunder a lot but with Durant, Westbrook, and Green there just aren't that many stats to be had.
Evans is in the perfect position to get it. He can be "the guy" this year for the Kings.

I see Cisco and Kmart parked on the 3 point line, Hawes and JT backing out of the paint and Tyreke slashing to the hoop a la Sarunas Marciulionis. Rooney was 6' 6" with a big body and a good handle on the ball who would drive into the paint on ANYONE. Tyreke looks to be this same type of player. I think he has a good shot at ROY because the Kings need a leader and Tyreke is a leader on the court. Just his attitude during the predraft work outs saying "Hey, I will go agaisnt anyone" proves this. Then he proved that it was not just talk by outshining all the other guard prospects at multiple work outs.
I was also entranced by Rubio's rock star persona, but hey, GP went with the baller

Griffin by a landslide, with Harden second.

To be the ROY I think you need a minimum of 30+ a minutes a night. I kinda don't see Griffin getting THAT many, maybe 24-26, but 30+? I don't see it with Randolph there. If you park Randolph, that makes him even LESS probable to be moved. THe Clips got some issues. They REALLY need to move Randolph, BADLY.

Don't be so quick to hand ROY to Griffin. I remember everyone was ready to hand it to Beasley off the bat. I think Evans has a good a shot as anyone to win ROY. My darkhorse is going to be Wayne Ellington. He will get plenty of opportunity in Minnesota.

lol Harden won't be a top 3 rookie. If Griffin wins I don't expect a landslide either.

Boy would it be nice to have a rookie of the year in a sacramento kings jersey.
It could possibly keep us in Sacramento. Even if we dont chalk up that many wins.

Ya, Griffin is going to get his minutes, and he will be the rookie of the year. I think evans will be second though because he's going to get even more playing time and responsibility than Griffin.

Jordan Hill will start for the Knicks, he is a sleeper for the award. Looking forward to watching Jon Brockman mix it up with your team.

Just like Durant winning ROY kept them in Seattle?
