Right now it sounds like Geoff isn't going to make a big splash in free agency. It would be a nice addition but it's not going to happen.

We have 4 SF's right now, unless we're moving at least 2 of them in the process, Marvin Williams isn't happening

I am probably the largest advocate of bringing in Marvin Williams to the kings on these boards, but it's simply unrealistic. We would have to overpay tremendously to get Marvin, and we simply have too much money invested into the SF position and I seriously doubt that we will give away Noc for peanuts. I do believe that we could compete for a title almost two years sooner if we did pick up williams.

Hypothetical roster:
Evans/Beno/Rodriguez
Martin/Garcia/Evans
Williams/Greene/Casspi
Thompson/Brockman/Greene
Hawes/Diagu/Thompson

That would be AMAZING! But unrealistic...

Why not...we gave away Webber, Bibby, and Artest for peanuts basically. Granted, I know we got Greene in the Artest deal, but when it's for financial purposes, the Maloofs love peanuts

I must agree though, as much as I would love to see Williams wearing purple and black...it's simply just unrealistic.
can we just get a new arena already...

ya I definitely don't see why we wouldn't give Noc away. We have given far better players away then him just to save salary. Noc is not any exception.

I'd rather have Ariza, but that's just me. The chance of getting either is virtually nil.

How long will Williams survive with his "potential" tag? At some point he needs to produce.

mpg fg 3fg FT reb Ast Stl blks ppg
31.0 .448 .441 .763 6.0 1.8 .6 .7 13.7~~Nocioni

34.3 .458 .355 .806 6.3 1.3 .9 .6 13.9 ~ Willaims

Stats from last year.

That wouldn't be bad, actually.
Although personal bias would advise against it...

I dont see Ariza getting much better than he is now. To me he is just an average player. I would love to see Marvin Williams in Sacramento, but just like everyone else, I dont see a scenario in which it could happen.

I don't see what's the big deal about Williams. He seems to be remarkably average.

And HELL NO to Ariza.

Ariza is a guy that is in his role perfectly with the Lakers. If he's smart he will stay there.

I can't believe teams are actually going after this guy with wads of cash!!! Waaaaay overrated. Whoever signs this guy for 9 million a year is going to seriously regret that one.

He left his team mates hanging in the playoffs because of a sprained wrist. Would Garnett, Pierce, Kobe, Melo any tough player miss a series with a sprained wrist? Garnett didn't play because of serious knee injury that would have made him miss next season. A hurt wrist? I believe CWebb ripped Peja a new one for missing the playoffs for a similar soft reason. Williams is about as soft as they come, there is a reason a team doesn't try and keep a guy that talented.

I never understood why some Kings fans are infatuated with this guy. He's pretty average on both sides of the ball, an average shooter at best and cant create his own offense. He's a good athlete and can do a little of everything but there's much better options than Marvin Williams.

I will be ok with Williams. I think he is very intriguing player. He has a great work ethic. Just take look at his development of his jumpshot, especially from three point range.

Marvin Williams did play in ATL/MIA series AND the ATL/ORL series. I think calling Marvin Williams "as soft as they come" is a little too critical. He was originally diagnosed to be out for 6-8 weeks; but suited up and played within 4 weeks. He missed a few games due to swelling in the wrist (on his shooting hand). I wouldn't consider that "as soft as they come." Especially after breaking that same hand 2 years ago.

Marvin would be a great addition to the team IMO. He's a lengthy defender. He averaged nearly 14 points as the fourth scoring option behind Johnson, Smith and Bibby. 14ppg is not bad at all. He also averaged 6 boards a game. Which would indicate to me that the Kings would be upgraded to an outstanding rebounding team. I say go for Williams. He just turned 23 and still has ALOT of potential to live up to. Even if he doesn't improve on his numbers, I'm fine with 14/6 out of Marvin, as long as he maintains his defense.
