Lamar Odom?

Post#1 » by Draino » Sat Jul 4, 2009 8:43 pm

Any of you guys think we could get him?? probably 3yrs/25mil? what do you think? we could use him at the 3/4 spots and then that would give us the benefit of being able to package donte greene in a deal to get a center or other need, depending what is done in the offseason

I don't see Sacramento targeting Odom, and if they were, it would take too much to make it realistic.
Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity over humanity, nothing exceeds most of the criticisms made on the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well-warmed, and well-fed.

With the drafting of Tyreke, I think Marion would be a better fit.

i think marion would be nice....but i dont think he will make a huge impact to our team...i just cant see him as a pf on our team.....maybe evans/martin/marion/thompson/hawes...would be alright..but that still is a team in a work for progress.

Unless we unloaded another SF, I don't think any move should be made. I would prefer williams over odom though, cause they will both cost about the same, but williams is 7 years younger.

NO!

Odom lack of drive is well-documented. So you want to pay him 8-9 million per to show up on every third or fourth night? That's just foolish.

Now THAT would be a good risk/investment as the third big man!

Powe is WAY to much risk right now. You need at least a year post-op to be sure that he #1 has gotten everything back and #2 he doesn't pop his other ACL by compensating in rehab and once he's back on the court.

the kings arent going to sign a big name player or give anyone a big time contract this offseason...unless you count evans in that. i woulnt be opposed to a signing as long as it doesnt affect our chance of landing a stud next season
dont you miss when the kings vs. lakers meant somethin...

I highly doubt we land a "stud" next season. FA are either staying where they are or signing with a big city. We could probably land some nice role players but that is probably about it.

Yeah, that is what we should be aiming for anyway. It is extremely rare to pick up true stars in free agency, even if you aren't a smaller-market team.

The issue for me with 2010 isn't that we will "miss out" on guys like Bosh, Stoudemire, Wade, or LeBron. The problem is that a lot of other teams are going to strike out there too, and there will be a lot of capspace left over for people to get into bidding wars over what is left. Even the role-players are probably going to get overpaid next offseason, which is why a lot of guys like Boozer are probably better off aiming for free agency next year. If I were a guy like Sessions or Marvin Williams, I wouldn't sign any low-ball offer sheets and angle for next year.

This next season should be all about evaluating the young talent, and continuing to gage how they are developing and what weaknesses continue to plague us. Then you pick up a nice player in the lottery. Then you see if there are are any youngish role-players that can help address those needs still around in free agency or available via trades that you won't have to grossly overpay.

Even if someone like Odom was willing to come to Sacramento, you don't want to be signing guys on the wrong side of 30 to long-term deals unless it is a very economical one with a defined role.

Your going to need to continue to be patient, because I doubt your going to be blown away by whatever backup C Petrie decides to bring in off the scrap-heap.

Same thing could have been said about Doug Christie and Vlade Divac at one point. I do agree though, unless it's a steal of a deal, trade or contract wise, it's probably best to suck it up for another year, sign a high potential low risk player or two (Ike Diogu and Jerel McNeal) and key in on development.

i'll pass on Odom...he's a PF, don't play well at SF, and on that contract he's not even coming to Sacramento! Fakers can offer that! but if you want to talk about Powe...
