Saw this in the bee so i decided to post this...

Per SacBee

Gates met with Westphal earlier this week and has been at the NBA Summer League working with the Denver Nuggets. The Stampede is Denver's D-League affiliate.

Gates joins Mario Elie, Jim Eyen, Truck Robinson, Pete Carril and Shareef Abdur-Rahim on the staff.

"He's going to be primarily in charge of shooting accountability," Westphal said. "He's also going to help with game preparation scouting. He's eager and very ready."

I was getting concerned really. I knew he was rumored to being on the bench but when the official staff was announced his name was not included. But what does shooting accountability coach do? Make sure bad shots arent taken?

Glad to see him join the team though; he can really help this young team out.

don't know much about him, other than what I read in the bee, but sounds positive.

Interesting. Don't have a clue who he is really, but he has started off alrite coaching for the d-league. I don't think we have ever had a shooting accounatbility coach..Maybe that is exactly what we need..

yea i agree, not much of a popular name but it is a positive signing! I guess we're getting back to basics with a signing like this. Which is a good move. I just hope the Malogheads and Petrie practice patients with this staff

i think this is a very popular signing. Gates has been one the better NBDL coaches for the last couple of years.

+1 on the Kings being patient with the Coaches AND the young players. The losses are going to pile up, but this group will need some time to gel.

Gates sounds like a good guy to have on the staff. Coming from the D league the NBA is going to be heaven for him:)
