With really not many other major moves coming and things being really slow until pre season what are the predictions for best case and worst case this year?
To me this team is really a lot more complete than most think. I was angry when we drafted Evans but after watching the guy play in the first game he instantly one of the most unstoppable guards in the league. When we weren't even in many games last year because Beno just doesn't have the offensive firepower of Evans and can finish games also (Memphis only lost 1 game with him as a PG).
Our biggest weaknesses last year were PG leadership, coaching leadership, too soft, and too much turnover. I think finally have the mix of young and old core Petrie has proven to work before and will stick with now. He switched to a patient veteran coach with a higher win % than everyone's favorite coach Adelman and is a guy who wants to be here for many years. Evans again is head and shoulders better than Beno, Petrie added toughness in the draft and May to help the lonely Nocioni in that department.
Petrie has really paid attention to the little details that help you win. Like taking the less flashy like Rubio or Jennings and taking the more productive player or even not overpaying for role players. I just think that he has filled in so many craters from that 17 win team there is no way this team isn't around .500. I think Evans is just one of those talents that will have the kind of impact a Rose or DWilliams had at turning lottery team into a playoff team.

.500 is a pipe dream. Evans will have a great impact, but he won't turn us around in one yeRar.
I predict 26-30 wins at most.

I don't have high expectations from this team for obvious reasons.
Coming off from a 17 win season is hard to ignore. We are likely to be one of the worst teams in the NBA next season again (Bottom 8?). Well, to be fair, this time, we will have a healthy Martin, a healthy Garcia, more experienced Hawes/Thompson and a great rookie in Evans. But if I would have to say, we would win in the mid 20s->late 20s. MAYBE hit the 30 win mark.
I would be surprised to some extent if we win higher than that.

I'll guess 20- 25 wins.

I'm going to go against every1 else and say that we will win 35 games!
The West is weaker, we have a coach that knows what he is doing, our team should be healthy, martin is always improvved tremendously aftr the offsseason, and tyreke could win R.O.Y

That would be a heck of an accomplishment!
I would be
very satisfied if we able to achieve that feat. (While developing our young core, of course).
My gut feeling says it would be over the 30 mark but I would say the 20s would be more realistic IMO.

25-30 is my guess. Remember that the biggest move we made was drafting a few rookies, but if everyone stays healthy and if Evans is the star some of us think he is, 30-35 wins isn't out of the realm of possibility. Anything more than that and I'm thinking divine intervention.

At this point? 21 wins, but we'll make it tough for teams down the stretch. The most important thing is that they show the individual improvement, the overall team improvement will follow on down the line. Still could use a shot at the #1 pick or at least another in the top 5.

I'll guess 20- 25 wins. +3
Too much uncertainty. Evans will certainly help the PG spot, however....last year, defense, turnovers, and not knowing how to close out games is what led to 17 wins.
Turnovers might improve, with a new coach, new offense, and better PG play. Defense I don't see being drastically different to be honest. It can improve, but it takes time for younger players to develop it and become good on defense. Same goes for finishing games. Comes with experience. Yet, Evans could become our go-to-guy at end of game situations, and get to the rim or dish to Kev for a open look. Who knows?
Either way, those 3 areas are holding us back at the moment, so if they don't improve considerably, 20-25 wins is most likely.

I'd say around 25 is about right(give or take a couple). Evans and Westphal being the MAJOR differences, along with some improvement from Hawesome and Thompson.

27. My gut wants to go with 24, but I really believe that these guys will get it together near the end of the season and overcome injuries and growing pains to end up looking like a pretty respectable team. Now my team predictions look like this.
Tyreke is ROY.
Martin averages 23.5 and gets some respect in the league as more than a scorer.
Hawes improves but gets injured and misses 20 games.
Thompson goes through sophomore slump and everyone gets pissed off because we should have taken Randolph.
Nocioni gets traded at the deadline after a productive first half. He brings us a late 1st rounder.

46 and 36 playoffs say what ever you want we lost 20 games off bad coaching last year we would have won 37 games Martin missed too many games that cost us wins. We were better than a 17 win team whether people who are negative on this board believe that or not. Evans by himself in my opinion is a 10 to 15 game improvement over Beno as it is. We may not win that many games, but people can say what ever I don't get the 20 game and 25 game predictions seeing how that wouldn't be that big of an improvement and the team last year could have won that many games if they hadn't blew so many late game leads. You may not understand my optimism for this team, but I see a better team than what some people project and that is my opinion just as well as your prediction is yours. Therefore if you want to construct my thinking do it without flaming and intelligently. Thank you.

What's wrong with being optimistic. Every year each NBA team starts off 0-0 and depending on the schedule to start the season I could see us getting off to a good start. Now if they screw us again with our normal 5 game road trip to start the season then the fate of the season could turn out different. I think if the team gets a taste of winning gets off to a good start it will shake the ghosts of their past. Also every year a team comes out of no where and either challenges for a playoff spot or actually gets it. Chicago? Atlanta? Blazers? I'm not saying we are them, but why can't we? None of us know how much influence the new players will be to the existing roster and we don't know what kind of impact Westphal will have. I just see a roster that shines of potential and if potential can turn it into more than potential and in to production I see a 30 plus winner. Will we get to my projection of 46 who knows probably not, but I don't see why this team can't fight for a playoff spot till the very end of the season and rejuvenate the fanbase.
