Well I think the Maloofs are realizing that they need to rebuild their image in the community.

Mike Shannahan was Pat Bowlden's coach for life.

Yeah me too, this should be a no brainer for the maloofs, that was their chance prove to the community that they've learned from mistakes of the past (rick adelman).......

Must be true, if it's a rumor you read on Hoopshype.

Your not gonna find many better GMs that can find talent like Geoff. Maybe they learned their lesson when they let adelman go. Both guys should have stayed for as long as possible IMO.

Re: Petrie - A King For Life
Before Petrie the Kings did not have a 41 win season for 15 years. 7 out of the last 12 years he has been here we have reached .500. And the last great Kings team that finally collapsed with age has now been rebuilt again to start another run. I'm glad the Maloofs ate that humble pie when they fired Adelman and ran off Bibby too early when we still could have been a playoff team. I am at least happy they have learned that they learned the lesson like the Clippers owner who has had 41 wins 3 times in the last 20 years has never learned.
That's what owners do, pay the bills and get out of the way. Thank you Maloofs for getting the memo, expect momentum building for this team to do great things again. And this is all because you let your letting your quality gm do his job with no interference and let him find a veteran coach who fits in the system.

Re: Petrie - A King For Life
Ran Bibby too early? is people's memory this short? The team wasn't going anywhere with Bibby, and had the King kept him they would've had 75+ million $ payroll for a team that most probably wasn't going to make the playoffs, 75+ millions that were mainly due to Petrie's awful signing.
I have tried to battle the disinformation and false memories of this board, but the more I do it, it really seems useless.

So what happens we we only win 15 games next season...is everyone still going to be on the "Petrie for life!" bandwagon?

The people that were calling for a total rebuild should be thrilled.

You and I both know that they're never thrilled...
Anyway, this is good news and all, but does Petrie want to stay? I thought retirement was on the horizon.

If there's one thing I believe it's that the Maloofs will never leave Petries nads. It's their home away from home.

Re: Petrie - A King For Life
Everyone knows the Maloofs got into the GM business and messed up! By the Maloofs saying "in Geoff We Trust" it basically echo's the same thing most people here see.
If Geoff gets a lifetime contract that can only be terminated by Geoff himself then I will be able to believe what has been written.
