I really hope Hawes is going to start. I understand that he didn't play well in preseason, but no way should May start over him

Agree. I don't understand why Hawes would ever NOT start. We are a rebuilding team, and need Hawes to step up to be a legit team. Atleast give him a chance.

Agreed.

I don't like Mason as a starter. He can't spread the floor like Noc, Casspi, or even Greene can.

PREVIEW
The Oklahoma City Thunder and Sacramento Kings combined for just 40 wins last season, but there’s reason for optimism for both teams as they continue their rebuilding projects.

Behind emerging star Kevin Durant(notes), the Thunder especially have high hopes for the season that will begin with the Kings’ visit to Oklahoma City on Wednesday night.

In its first season after moving from Seattle, Oklahoma City got off to a horrific 3-29 start in 2008-09, but the team won 20 of its final 50 games and saw progress from a young core that includes Durant, forward Jeff Green(notes) and guard Russell Westbrook(notes).

Why not merge the two game threads together?

Westphal is sending a message to Hawes. With Evans, May and Mason as bad shooting starters there is no way they won't need Hawes shooting. Westphal also let Greene play more once he learned to stop shooting the ball everytime he touched it and play defense also. I think Hawes can have a Rasheed Wallace career 15/7/1.4 career.

But right now he needs to learn to play both sides of the ball if he wants to start. He has to foul people in the paint or else just Thompson does it and gets him in foul trouble. If Thompson or Hawes gets in foul trouble our offense stalls so they have to work together to protect the paint. That is the same system Petrie used with Webber and Vlade.

I think Westphal also pulled him against Oden to get under skin a bit. Westphal is a very good coach for a reason because he will challenge anyone to get the most of them. In the long run this is the right thing and Hawes and Greene will make themselves better players and Hawes will earn his starting spot back.

Go Kings! I will be listening to the game at my daughter's soccer game.

Man, like a junkie who's been going through major withdrawals....I SO NEED A KINGS FIX! Even skipped out of work early so I could see the game live. Let's get the show on the road and start this season with a WIN!
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

Kevin durant with an easy bucket in the paint, Hawes standing with his hand straight up instead challenging the damn shot. Down 10 early but Tyreke is taking it hard to the bucket, he gets there easily but isn't finishing at the moment.

We're looking lazy and disinterested. And Martin is playing about as soft as a marshmallow.
