Here is something to change our season...

Post#1 » by Draino » Thu Oct 29, 2009 11:32 am

ok sooo... we suck, we are weak, no leadership, and shooting needs improvement.... so I found a solution.

TRADE FOR STEPHEN JACKSON! He wants out of GS, I don't care who we give him, because no matter who we give them is going to be a good deal. I don't wanna hear this "oh he has potential" bull crap, NONE of the kings players have potential. And IF they do, they are not realizing it. Hawes is a bust, Greene is a bust. this is PATHETIC! Martin, Evans, Thompson, Casspi are the only keepers for me right now, everyone else can go.
With Jackson in, we would have a SOLID SMALL FORWARD (MUCH NEEDED)! Good LEADER, someone who isn't afraid to be in charge. Las year everyone was saying oh no Vince Carter bla bla bla, VINCE CARTER IS A VERY GOOD PLAYER WHO CAN CHANGE GAMES, unlike any of the Kings players. I'm tired of this! all this "potential" **** is old news.

OK, now that we have the negativity out of our system, we remember that we have THE YONGEST AVERAGE AGE TEAM IN THE LEAGUE!!!

The team age average without KT and Mason (neither of whom is going to be here past this season) is 23 1/4!

I'm not bothering to read further than "TRADE FOR STEPHEN JACKSON". The last thing a young, rebuilding team needs is a selfish chucker like him. Keep him far away from this team. I would rather lose 82 games than give away anything to put him on the roster.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

Yeah, he's lovely to have around young players, that won't stir any issues in the locker room.

I think this is officially the most absurd topic I've ever seen on this board. Firstly (as has already been mentioned) our team is one of the youngest in the league. It is going to take years for them to reach their prime.

Secondly, saying that none of the players on this team have potential is a dramatic overstatement. Why you may ask? Because this is the first freaking game of the season, how can you possibly, with any amount of reason judge all of these players after just one game together this season

Thirdly, I might agree that a trade could be a nice thing to do but I would never try to pull one this early in the season just because the team lost it's first game. Incidentally don't knee jerk reaction trades of this kind usually come back to bite the team that's the instigator?

Fourthly, I'm sure you can find examples of ones that have worked, for instance most recently the Billups for Iverson trade helping the Nuggets. The problem is I don't know anyone who at this point in his career (if ever) you could put Jackson in the category of truly great season changing players. I think you're right as far as Jackson would be the best SF on the team, but really is that saying that he's good, or is it instead a reminder of how bad this team really is. Also, as has already been mentioned, Stephan Jackson would be just about the worst role model you could put on any team. Any tension that may already exist on this team would increase exponentially. Finally keep in mind that the chances he would want to play here, one of the few teams worse than the one he's already on, is patently ridiculous.

Lastly, doesn't this happen every year? I mean it sure does seem like it. We all as a community generally agree the team is going to be very bad this year and more or less it seems we are resigned to it, but then after the first couple of games we realize that we were just whistling in the dark and are now shocked at just how bad the team really is.

Like you say "Here is something to change our season" Yep for the worst.

I don't want Jackson anywhere near our (young) players.

Jackson won't do anything for us. What we need is more frontcourt depth, bottom line.

For the sake of discussion, lets just say we had a solid defense from the 4/5 and solid rebounding. Not good or great, just solid. That right there would be tremendous for our team.

I really wish right now we wouldn't have traded our 2nd rounder for virtually nothing and drafted Blair. ugh

Indeed. I guess I don't really care how many games we win, I just want to see some growth. I have no doubt Evans will get better and better; and Casspi is impressive so far. But I want to see flashes, growth in Thompson, Hawes and even Greene's games. That would provide hope for the future.
Go 0-82, but be in every game fighting hard.

I didn't see that last night, which is what is so frustrating. I like Thompson, he does fight & play hard, I give him that. He just can't stay out of foul trouble so its hard too really gauge what he is capable off. Hawes: I have no idea what to think anymore. Same with Greene.

Best thing that might come out of this season is Johnny Wall.

Why is everyone surprised with last night? We have one of the least talented teams in the league, with zero defense, and no chemistry. We will be a bottom three team in the league (lol at all the people who thought we could make the playoffs or hit 42...i should pull up those threads)

But is it time to panic? No.

Evans, Thompson, Hawes, Donte, Casspri all will get better, resulting in our team getting better. Evans and Martin are the only impact players we have right now. Players that can change a game. Add another top 4 pick this year to that, and our future looks brighter.

Teams need to rebuild and until last year we haven't. Retooling isn't the same as rebuilding. Kinda contending with a Bibby or Miller or Jackson isn't rebuilding.

I don't think we are going to be that bad deNIEd IMO. I see ourselves more of the bottom 8 team moreso than a bottom three. Are we going to be worse from last year? No. Significant improvements from last year? Maybe. I see this team winning around mid twenties to the higher twenties. Anything higher is a successful season.

It doesn't matter if we win 30 games, everything is relative. Which teams out there are going to be worse than us?

Bottom 10 teams last year
LAC - Nope
Mem - Has a lot of talent, but they might as well start a ballrack, so maybe
OKC - Nope
WAS - Nope
MIN - Nope
GSW - Probably not
NYK - Hard to tell
Tor - Nope
Mil - Maybe

The only ones realistically worse than us this year, is either Memphis or Milwaukee. What 5 other teams are worse than us?

I can't predict anything now. It's too early to make that declaration. But if everything is right in the basketball world, the basketball gods will let the Kings not sucking hard. Image

Seriously though, it was only my opinion. I just have a feeling that we are not going to contend for the Wall sweepstakes this year.

Basketball gods hate the kings.

To be honest, I'll be happy with 2 wins in the first 10 games.

I was happy with a .500 record for the first 10 games. And I actually thought last nights game was a winnable game for us. But that wasn't the case. So, I'm not too sure what will our record look like after that.

I think there is a strong chance we may start 0-3 to start the season. But we will eventually balance that out with that home stand we have.. 6 home games in our first ten games in the season.

I feel your frustration dude. After that game I was seriously ready to give away all our players to Orlando so that they could beat the Celtics and Lakers. I am seriously a half season away from burning all my Kings jerseys.

Stephen Jackson? Nah, probably not. I want SOMETHING to happen, but not this.

I think we need a trade though. Use KT's expiring and clear some room at the SF position. Or do a blockbuster trade and bring in Amare? Ya, ya he is bad at defense and will bolt, but money talks, and I am sick of seeing this putrid product on the floor.

I'm not saying we HAVE to get stephen jackson, but we NEED toget VETERAN leadership! Yea we ARE the youngest team in the league and what do we get for it? to be the laughing stock of the league as well.... Same thing about Amare Stoudemire last year, oh Thompson and Greene is too much, well... Thompson and Greene will never be as good as Amare. WE NEED A SUPERSTAR LEVEL PLAYER ON THIS TEAM... PERIOD! KEVIN MARTIN IS NOT A SUPERSTAR

Well I'm glad to see that you aren't overreacting to one loss on the season.

No I'm not overreacting to one loss on the season, but seriously watching this team play made my eyes bleed. It is PATHETIC! And I'm getting tired of this! Ever since we traded Webber this team has went downhill. I don't know why everyone is so stuck on this potential for this team when nothing is happening! THEY WILL REALIZE THEIR POTENTIAL WHEN THEY LEAVE THE KINGS (see Gerald Wallace, Mo Evans, Ronnie Price, John Salmons, etc...) Seriously do you really think its gonna be worth waiting for this team to DEVELOP WITHOUT A LEADER, rather than get a VETERAN (boo hoo we incerease our age average, so f'n what??) someone who can step up and be a leader! We have the pieces to make a trade, so why not do it?
